I found a poem in the mailbox earlier from our resident poet here, Carol Cole. She wrote a poem titled "Grand Manan Island (Canada)". She goes there now and then to visit her sister who resides there.
Grand Manan Island
(Canada)
Misty fog and morning dew.
Wild flowers blooming
Brighten each view.
On sandy beach and
Rock shore come treasures
From the ocean floor.
Waves come crashing when
Tides are high, and fresh
Breezes blow white clouds
Across the sky; And
Ferry boats travel
To and fro amidst
The Fundy's ocean flow.

Another item in the mailbox anonymously written, "So glad to see some of our missing people back home." I'm pretty certain that it relates to my sister Jeannette May, who finally made it home after her extended stay in Florida due to health problems. We are glad to have her back, safe and sound. She told me that she is very happy to be home.
This last Thursday twelve residents enjoyed the Coffee Chat Hour. Folks are starting to come out from their winter hibernation around here.
I saw only one car in the car wash this morning, so I took advantage of that and the warm temperatures to wash some of the salt and dirt off my car. If I leave it parked it will look pretty good for a while.
LaVonne McNett was on her way out as I started nosing for news around here. She was leaving to visit her brother on this fine day. LaVonne reported that she had visited Eloise Bagley Sunday afternoon, who is home recovering from hip surgery. LaVonne said that Eloise is doing well.
Arlene Quail attended the Lenten Luncheon at the Ecumenical Church this last week. A number of other residents from here went with her.
Irma Earley said she hasn't been out much due to the icy conditions and cold, but that it was good to get back to church on the mountain. She also enjoyed having lunch at the Iron Skillet after services with her daughter Maxine and Dave Shedden on Sunday.
Kathy Temple reported that she and her sister Bonnie Vanemon were at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant for lunch on Sunday and did a little shopping at the Lycoming Mall while out. She commented that they had a relaxing day catching up on each other's happenings, etc.
When I saw Mary Turner she said that she and most of her family attended a birthday party at the home of her niece Laura Perry. They were celebrating the special day of Laura's daughter, Addison Perry. Mary said that Addison received many nice gifts.
Frances Kobbe and her aide were cooking when I stopped in. Smelled really good in there! She said that her son Richard and Barb Kobbe took her for an appointment at Dr. Rook's on Thursday. On Saturday, Frances' daughter Carol Bastion took her to Tops Market for some shopping. Frances said, "I went wild!" I take it that means she is stocked up for a while.
My daughter Debbe Foust stopped in on Saturday and brought me a filter for my vacuum cleaner. We had a nice visit and went across the hall so she could welcome Jeannette back home as well.
When I walked by the second floor common room I noticed puzzle people had another puzzle almost finished.
I attended the March VIA meeting on Thursday. We met at the Milky Way Restaurant for the meeting with eight members present. Since we hadn't met during January and February it was good to see every one and we had a productive meeting and enjoyed our lunch there.
Nine residents turned out for the game of bingo this Monday evening. That included the caller, Kathy Temple, and Arlene Quail, Carol Brown, Charlotte Tillotson, Jackie Wesneski, Roxie Holmes, LaVonne McNett, Jeannette May and myself. Kathy made it interesting with some new games and everyone enjoyed the changes.
