The Easter egg hunt last Saturday, April 4th, was a success with approximately twenty children participating.
We also welcomed two other ladies. Barbara Barrett, who is coordinator of volunteers for the Bradford County Heritage Association, and Margaret Winder who is another volunteer.
They brought a bulletin board type of information and pictures of the Troy Heritage Village and Farm Museum, and spoke at length about the volunteer opportunities at the museum which is located just north of Troy on Rt. 14 next to the Troy Fair grounds.. There are many types of opportunities open from greeting visitors at the museum entrance to playing a role in demonstrating life in the village buildings many years ago. Volunteers are also needed to help with the upkeep and restoring new additions. There is a newsletter available at www.TheHeritageVillage.org. The museum is open during many special events such as the Maple Festival, April 25th and 26th, Farm Days, May 11th and 12th, and the Troy Fair during the week of July 26-Aug. 1, 2015. Donations are greatly appreciated also to help run the museum.
A brown bag auction was held following the Heritage Association presentation. There was a large number of bags to bid on and the proceeds from the auction was over a hundred dollars.
Before lunch the group recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Helen Antes asked the blessing on the luncheon which consisted of Asian style chicken, sweet and sour brown rice, green beans and an apple.
