Seven Signs You're Stressed
Stress has been associated with heart disease, asthma, Alzheimer’s disease, gastrointestinal problems, depression and anxiety, headaches, obesity, diabetes, accelerated aging and premature death, according to WebMD. Stress is something you should take very seriously. Here are 7 silent signs of stress you want to pay attention to.
1. Pimples, bumps, spots and more. Stress may cause pimples to break out, mainly on the face, neck or chest. People with existing conditions of acne can see it become worse during times of stress. Why? Stress can lead to inflammation and this in turn can lead to acne.
2. Headaches While headaches can occur for a number of reasons, there are headaches that are particularly related to stress. Stress headaches may actually occur when the body is trying to recover from the stress triggers of the day or week, not necessarily when the stress is the highest. For some people, these headaches can be quite severe. What can you do to help? Getting enough rest is a good start. You also need to EAT PROPERLY!
3. Sugar Cravings Another silent signal that signifies the presence of stress is cravings for anything sweet. Sugary foods tend to mask the stress, pain, anxiety, long hours and other similar scenarios. Adrenal fatigue and lack of sleep – which come from stress, can increase sugar cravings, too.
4. Allergies Itchy eyes, runny nose, congestion are allergy symptoms, and stress could be a trigger. Those with allergies could find their problems worsened when under stress.
5. Cramps and Stomach Problems That stomach upset may be stress. It could manifest in the form of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or even constipation. Getting a walk outside in the fresh air may help, but so will eating healthy foods that can help soothe your stomach, provide you with energy and the ability to fight inflammation.
6. Twitching Some people may nervously jerk at their clothes when stressed while others find that their eyelids twitch when they are stressed. Hence, if you notice some kind of nervous movement, watch to see if this is a silent signal that you’re stressed.
7. Hair Loss Hormones related to stress could affect hair follicles and when you’re stress, you may begin to notice more hair than usual on your brush. The more stressed a person is, the more hair may fall out.
If you have more serious symptoms you may want to consult a physician, but there are things that you can do to try to get stress under control. Deep breathing, walking, exercise, healthy food, Epsom salt baths, a massage, aroma therapy and adaptogenic herbal supplements may all help.
