He also told me it took five hours to travel from his home in Northeast Florida to Tampa, which he said the GPS showed it should take only three hours. One more reason I don't have one of these things. One of these electronic devices instructed my brother-in-law to proceed approximately half way across Lamoka Lake and his house would be there.
I saw what I thought was a sorta neighborhood cat that hangs around this end of the street. I watched to see if he was going to harass my bird guests and realized it was not the freeloading (and somewhat ugly) cat, but a raccoon. He did not appear to be sick as I watched him skillfully walk over the stone wall down by the crick. Not being sure if raccoons spend much time walking about in the daytime, I checked with some of the experts at the "Chatterbox." I was assured by more than one that these animals out and about in the daytime this time of the year was OK and attributable to two things, one of which is finding something to eat.
I took advantage of one of the recent warm days to start the garage cleaning and in turn once I uncovered it to get the old tractor started. I knew this would not be a one-man job so I asked my wife if she would assist me in towing knowing she doesn't like anything to do with chains, ropes or popping clutches (all that fun stuff). After I assured her she would not have to do anything other than drive, no hooking anything, and giving her a choice of tow vehicle, the mission was accomplished before reaching the mailbox. I decided to ride to the park. On the way back I noticed the beavers have been busy down between Bardo's and the park building dams. Maybe our park will have a lake someday.
Saturday we checked out the annual Easter Egg hunt at the Wheel Inn Club and hundred more joined us in cheering on the little candy-grabbers and I spotted some parents aiding and abetting. We went from the egg hunt to Liberty to check out Martin's Pantry a rather neat place much like the Barnstead in Troy but with a soup and sandwich shop built in and meats and cheese products, some of which we had never heard of. I certainly hope none of my recipes ever call for the adoption of real vanilla bean. If so, stop at the bank on your way.
We came home via Rt. 414 and stopped by to visit son Greg in East Point. Made it all the way home without any dirt road travel. Sunday we traveled to Elmira Heights for Easter dinner at Granddaughter Stephanie. Ten of us enjoyed a ham with all the fixin's - so good we quickly agreed to bring home some leftovers.
Did you hear the Governor of California (Jerry Brown) say the drought out there is due to climate change. In nearly the next remark he said there has been a surge in whale population for the same reasons. For the couple of readers I have in Southeast PA, surge means a rise in number. Oh, you guys know I'm only kidding. I make a lot of statement with my tongue firmly in my cheek.
I see now by the news if you are part of this craziness called basketball playoffs or Final Four and heaven forbid if your team loses - you and a whole bunch of similar folks with similar fear of losing a game get to set fires and cause chaos. What will happen now? Will the scores be changed? Do you get a second game to try again? I don't think so.
The President has been making deals with the country of Iran. Is this the same country that still is holding Americans prisoner?
Do any of you kids remember playing a game called Twenty Questions? How much fun would it be to play with a politician? You may answer only "yes" or "no" to the twenty questions I have to ask. I don't suppose it would work because I am afraid they would not understand the rules.
And the other big thing that happened on Sister Street this past were was that the guy at the end of the street celebrated a birthday (a big one). But as Hillary would say and as far as birthdays go I would agree, "At this point what difference does it make?"
