I'm happy to report I have at least one reader way over in Liberty, PA. Thank you, Florence, for your interest. I may not have reached the magic thirteen readers but they sure are getting spaced out. I have a couple down in Ridley Park who are almost in another state.
As I write this early Saturday morning Cindy has gone to Canton to participate in the annual blood testing program sponsored by the Canton Lions Club. I have not taken part for several years because I get tested a lot throughout the year.
I see where last Saturday the 11th was National Pet Day. My daughter Beth reports that the pet "Tucker," a large black cat, deserves a day after the past week with a house guest. A small dog was babysat in Mt. Pocono and "Tucker" has had about enough of "Sammy." Poor old "Tucker" is 16 or 17 years of age so he naturally wants his house back. He probably wasn't even consulted.
A new report says too much time on "Facebook" can lead to depression. Well, that's one problem I won't have to deal with.
My other neighbor Eric Spencer has to learn to get along minus a part of one finger, which was work-related. I spoke with his mother and she has returned to work and is doing OK.
At our latest meeting of the Endless Mountains Antique Tractor and Machinery we "volunteered" to sell raffle tickets at this year's Maple Festival April 25 & 26. At our 8th annual show held on June 5-6-7 this year we will be giving away first prize of a 1952 Farmall Cub (a nice one); second prize a rather unique pedal tractor and third prize a dinner cruise for two on Seneca Lake. Prizes will be drawn Sunday afternoon the 7th. Make your plans to attend as this year will have a few new events. I'll tell you more in the coming weeks.
I'm sure many of you watch Channel 16 for news and weather as I do. I have one question. What is a "garden variety thunderstorm?"
It has been brought to my attention that there has been some activity at the former Dandy Mini-Mart and the "for sale" signs are gone. Former Alba resident Tom Collins spoke to me about a business idea he had. I hope he did not move forward without proper permits.
I heard an $80 million lottery ticket was sold in Florida. I'm waiting for my son to call with the good news.
I have to correct an error from last week. When I mentioned about the vanilla bean it should have read "addition," not "adoption."
A big thank-you to Tom Carman and his staff at Western Alliance for our invitation to the annual appreciation dinner. We had a good meal and a chance to visit with some politicians, past, present and some wannabees.
I have heard a gender-neutral bathroom will be installed in the White House. So does that mean if a man follows a woman into said room all he has to do is declare himself harmless because he is neutral?
And how is Hillary planning to announce her run for the White House? By e-mail? Remember she said they were "dead broke" in 2010? How can she handle a budget?
