I noticed several cars at the Spencer's home last Saturday. I think Thanksgiving dinner was held then.
Irene Matson (better known as mom) received a happy birthday phone call from her nephew Joe Biddle who I think lives in Lansdale, PA. Many of you will remember his father "Fid" Biddle, a mailman in Canton for many years. We did manage to put up some Christmas lights last week.
Sunday, we took a ride up Bradford, NY to visit Cindy's sister Shirley and her husband Richard. They visit us quite often so we figured it was our turn. A plus is Shirley always makes a big pot of spaghetti and it's better than what I make.
It was interesting to note that if one wanted to buy a product on Black Friday or even on Thanksgiving day it was possible to hire someone to stand in line for you for anywhere from 18 to 22 dollars per hour. Let's see now, if you needed said person to wait all night how would you actually save anything except maybe your feet.
Before I begin this next part let me strongly state that I have absolutely nothing against hunters, trappers, fishermen, or anyone who wants to harvest any of nature's bounty, but I often wonder after the price of a rifle and license, clothes, and gas to reach the hunting grounds (not everyone lives on the edge of the woods) some come half a state for a few days, then how much does a pound of venison cost?
My nomination for dumb commercial of the week is the one where you send me all your old gold and then I will send you some money. And if that sounds good I have a couple of bridges I can let go cheap.
Did you ever wonder why you would go to a store and buy sour cream, but throw out milk because it is sour?
I have seen and spoke with a number of doctors the last few months and not one of them ever mentioned a bladder sling. I may have to inquire on my next doctor's visit. We have been known to discuss a lot of things not related to any of my problems.
I know the condition on Monday morning did not favor the hunters. The snow barely visible in the Mansfield area on Sunday and by our return late Sunday afternoon, it was gone.
We saw a very small bear that did not make the crossing on Rt. 99 (old Rt. 15).
Some of you may recall when stores and businesses were closed on Sundays and holidays. Well, all except Roots' Corner store (site of present day Acorn). They had to be open on Christmas morning so those of us that were not smart enough could stock up on flash bulbs and batteries.
I don't remember any one stranded or running out of gas on the way to church. Yes, gas stations closed also.
Well I witnessed the actions of some of the St. Louis Rams and now I have one more reason to ignore professional football teams.
Does anyone think Al Sharpton has anything important to say?
