It is more like one beggar telling another beggar where they can find food and shelter. At some point we recognized that we were homeless without God and subsequently found Him. So, out of love and concern, we tell others about what, (who) we have found. Not out of a position of superiority, but in recognition that we ALL have nothing without Him. We know what Jesus says in John 15:5 is true, “"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” It is not the desire of Jesus that Christians shove Him down your throat, but to show you that we care and introduce you to the nourishment and shelter that we have found in Him. And oh, by the way, eternal life in Heaven after death.
We beggars went dumpster diving and found something we want to share! Not fast food leftovers but fine dining with a king and something far better than we expected. Think about it. We have already found it and have no other reason to share, other than we care and want you to have it also. Jesus says in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Find a Bible and start with the book of John, and/or come to church this Sunday and ask someone. You may come out with the treasure you need and that we already have. Something to think about…
Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company. One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, “Father, me dog is dead. Could ya’ be saying’ a mass for the poor creature?” Father Patrick replied, “I’m afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Baptists down the lane, an there’s no tellin’ what they believe. Maybe they’ll do something for the creature.”
Muldoon said, “I’ll go right away Father. Do ya’ think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?” Father Patrick exclaimed, “Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn’t ya tell me the dog was Catholic?
