Brown, 86, Windfall, PA died peacefully on Monday morning, April 30, 2018 at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. She courageously fought to the end with her beloved family at her side. Lucille Ellen was born June 20, 1931 in Gray Valley near Sylvania, PA, the only daughter of the late Wilson Delos and Hilda (Ripley) Giles. Lucy married Delbert “Delly” Brown on July 13, 1965. She was a member of Windfall Methodist Church and later attended the Fellowship Bible Church in Troy. Family always came first in Lucy’s life. She will be lovingly remembered as the matriarch of the family who kept everything running smoothly. Lucy enjoyed many interests in her life; favorites included times shared with her children and grandchildren, camping throughout the area and conversations around the campfire with family and friends. Most recently, for 15 years she enjoyed working and was a great help in establishing Brown’s Pharmacy with locations in Canton and Troy. Joyce Bixby, age 94, Mansfield, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Broad Acres in Wellsboro, PA.
She was born on February 6, 1924 in Granville Twp., PA, a daughter of Lawrence Greenough and Annabel (Shoemaker) Greenough. Joyce was the wife of the late Britt Bixby who died in 2001. She was employed at Mansfield University as a secretary for 30 years. Joyce is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Yohanna Bixby, Modesto, CA, Scott and Virginia Bixby, Mansfield, PA, Mark and Arifa Bixby, Houston, TX, Chris and Susan Bixby, Loganville, PA, Jon and Marie Bixby, Pensacola, FL; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Charles “Jake” Randall, Bernville, PA; special nephew, Don Bixby; nieces, Kelly Murray and Connie Chilson. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, April 26 at Noon to 1 PM at the First Baptist Church, Sherwood & Main St, Mansfield, PA. A service will immediately follow at 1 PM. Anna Mae was born April 15, 1922 in Granville Township, daughter of the late Elmer H. and Lena (Smith) Johnson. She was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School. Over the years Anna Mae worked at Green Thumb, Inc. at the Bradford County Library, M. L. Kennedy Insurance, F. P. Case and Sons, Inc., the Troy Gazette Register, and Troy Engine and Machine Co., all of Troy, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Troy, United Methodist Women, Bradford County Library, Canton V. F. W. Auxiliary, and Troy American Legion Auxiliary. ![]() Leonore Best, 70, Roaring Branch, PA (Union Twp.) passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday morning, April 9, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Born July 15, 1947, in Spencertown, PA, Leonore Maxine was a daughter of the late Andrew and Pauline (Patterson) McIlwain. She married Leroy “Paul” Best on November 17, 1968 in Columbia Cross Roads. Leonore was employed by Canton Manufacturing Co. in Canton for over 22 years until her health no longer permitted. Former Canton resident Clifford Bacon passed away on April 5, 2018.

He was the love husband of Helen O. (Scott) Breese. The couple married January 17, 1970 and had 48 happy years together. Delbert was born May 2, 1942 in Pine City, NY, son of the late Delbert C. and Florence M. (Hicks) Breese, Sr. He served his country in the US Army and worked for Schrader-Bellows Air Valve Co. in Canton. Delbert was a member of the Troy Vets Club. Surviving are his wife Helen; daughters Helen A. (Keith) Buck and Nellia Toomey, both of Troy; grandchildren: Orinda Ackley, Jacob Buck, Nichole Ackley, Autumn Buck, Emily Toomey, Travis Toomey, Katelyn Toomey, and Lee Buck; sister Mary Jane Slater, Troy; brother David (Mary) Breese, Canton, and several nieces and nephews. Born April 21, 1926 in Canton, he was the son of Raymond and Matilda Mitchell Belawski. He and his wife Mary have celebrated 44 years of marriage. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWll. After his employment at Ward Manufacturing, he became self employed by starting Belawski Nursery. His greatest joy was making things grow; working on landscaping and making sure it was done right. There will be many who will miss his "green thumb", and his well-lit Christmas tree which was enjoyed by countless people. |
