Elaine was born on March 26, 1940 in North Bingham, PA to Lee and Louise (Owen) Jeffers. She had worked as a cook for the Troy School District for several years. She was a member of TOPS, and enjoyed bowling, crafts, and painting.
Elaine Ann Horton, 76, Troy, PA, died Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by loved ones at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Elaine was born on March 26, 1940 in North Bingham, PA to Lee and Louise (Owen) Jeffers. She had worked as a cook for the Troy School District for several years. She was a member of TOPS, and enjoyed bowling, crafts, and painting. On the morning of July 16, 2016, Canton resident Daniel Lee Hamilton, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his residence. Born in Williamsport on April 26, 1959, he was the son of the late Richard Hamilton and his wife Patricia (Bloom) Hamilton of Shunk.
Dan worked for many years in the lumber industry, most recently with L.L. Baumunk & Son in Shunk. He was a man of deep, abiding faith in the Lord, and had been a member of the Wheelerville Mennonite Church. Daniel was friendly and outgoing with a cheerful personality and positive outlook. Alice Louise (Palmer) Hall, 97, Locust Grove, VA, and formerly of Columbia Cross Roads, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was the loving wife of the late James M. Hall who passed away back in 1987. Alice was born on November 15, 1918 in Grover, daughter of the late Grant and Laura (Howland) Palmer. She was Cafeteria Manager for the Columbia Cross Roads Elementary School for 25 years. Music was Alice’s passion. She was a piano teacher for over 40 years and was the organist for the Columbia Cross Roads United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years. She was also a member of the Mountain Laurel Camping Club, the Wheel Inn, the Troy and Gillett Senior Centers, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. Alice is survived by her daughter Deborah L. Constantopoulos of Locust Grove, VA, her grandsons: Alexander (Melissa) Constantopoulos of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Damion (Elizabeth) Constantopoulos of Locust Grove, VA, her great granddaughters: Julia, Jillian, Ava, and Norah, her niece Lorie (Mark) Fallon of Thompson, PA and their children Amanda and Kirk, and her brother-in-law Wesley Hall. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Edward Buchla. Donna Jean Ball Holland, 53, Gillett, PA passed away Friday night, April 22, 2016 at her mother’s home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 21, 1963 in Scranton, PA the daughter of the late Floyd Ball, Jr., who passed away July 25, 1999, and Margaret J. Rought Ball of Wyalusing, PA. She attended Wyalusing and Towanda area schools while growing up. Donna was employed with Cargil (Taylor Packing) in Wyalusing and with R.G. Brown in Laceyville with her Uncle Jimmy by her side until she became a homemaker for her family in 2000. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, and watching WWE wrestling. She loved country music especially listening to David Allan Coe. Donna was a very caring and loving person that had a heart of gold and she was always there if you needed her. Ernestine Herman, 89, wife of the late Lloyd Herman and long-time resident of the Canton area, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6 2016 at the Bradford County Manor in Burlington.
Ernestine Tillotson Herman was born on Bennett Hill, Canton Township on December 13, 1926. She was one of nine children of the late Paul and Maude (Wilcox) Tillotson. Ernestine graduated from Canton High School in 1944. She was married to Lloyd for over 36 years until his passing on Nov. 9, 2004. Ernestine was blessed with a strong work ethic all her life. On the afternoon of Saturday, February 27th, 2016, Sheila Kay (Carman) Hilton of Granville Summit went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 46 years of age. Born December 1st, 1969 in Towanda, she was the daughter of Ronald and Donna (Morse) Carman. Sheila was a graduate of Canton Area High School’s Class of 1988, after which she attended the Williamsport School of Commerce, graduating in 1991. Throughout most of her adult life she was employed at Troy Community Hospital. She was married to Michael A. Hilton, with whom she raised two children. Although somewhat quiet and shy, Sheila had a smile that could light up a room and went out of her way to help others. She also took great care of her appearance, as any professional should. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and vacations at the seashore, and kept a collection of sand samples from beaches up and down the east coast. She was a fan of country music, especially the music of Alan Jackson. Most of all, Sheila loved being with her family, playing games and enjoying good times. Richard V. Haire, 66, Le-Raysville, passed away on February 5, 2016 at his home after a long struggle with cancer.
He was born on June 25, 1949 in Meshoppen, PA to the late Vernon and Harriet [Davis] Haire. Richard graduated from Canton High School then from Duquesne University where he majored in pharmacy. He worked for 40 years as a pharmacist in several locations, most recently Bert’s Pharmacy, Sayre, and Fairway Pharmacy, Montrose, before his 2013 retirement. Richard was a past deacon, trustee & elder at the Neath Welsh Congregational Church and the past treasurer for the Neath Cemetery. Donna DeHaas, 73, Canton, and formerly of Rummerfield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Donna Marie was born in Fitchburg, Mass. on October 11, 1942. She was a daughter of the late Eugene and Betty (Franklin) Lehto and a 1960 graduate of Towanda High School. Donna then studied to become a LPN and later earned an Associates degree in Accounting. Family and home came first in Donna’s life and her favorite times were always shared with loved ones. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing and just being outdoors in the beauty of nature. Her family extends a grateful thank you to her wonderful caretakers Pam Owen and Carol Lash also to Guthrie Hospice nurses Connie McClure and Bobbi Thuotte. George L. Hughes Jr., 79, Williamsport, went to join his wife with the Lord on Dec. 22, 2015, at ManorCare Health Services North. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Hazel E. (Bubb) Hughes, on March 17, 2003.
Born June 27, 1936, in Danville, he was a son of the late George L. and Vera (Baumgartner) Hughes Sr. George was a 1954 graduate of Williamsport High School and graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology with a degree in graphic design and was an avid Penn State fan. He worked for the former C.A. Reed Company until 1993 and later retired in 2000 from Radiant Steel. Gladys M. (Garrison) Hurlburt, 91, of Troy, passed away, December 21, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Lewis M. Hurlburt who passed away November 27, 1990. The couple married July 4, 1942 and had 48 happy years together. Gladys was born on July 6, 1924 in Roseville, PA, daughter of the late Roy L. and Florence A. (Hulslander) Garrison, Sr. She was a Bookkeeper and Teller for the First Bank of Troy from 1965 till her retirement in 1986. Gladys was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, a life member of the Troy Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, a 46 year member of the American Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary, and a 33 year member of the 8 & 40. |
