On the morning of Friday, April 17th, 2015, Miles Rodney Pratt of East Canton passed away quietly at Bradford County Manor. He was 84 years of age. Born in Canton on March 17th, 1931, he was the son of Leland and Anna (Dexter) Pratt. Miles grew up in Granville Township and was a graduate of Troy High School. For most of his life he was a farmer and was active in the Grange; first with the Granville Grange, and later with Union Grange in West Burlington. He was always happiest when working, but he did take the time to enjoy hunting and motor bike racing. He was a man of faith who had been a longtime member of the former East Granville Baptist Church. Most of all, he loved the company of his family and friends.
On the morning of Tuesday, April 7th, 2015, Charles A. Palmer of LeRoy passed away quietly at his residence following a long illness. He was 87 years of age. Born in Canton March 2nd, 1928, he was the son of Paul and Edith (Brooks) Palmer. Following high school Charles enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving in the Pacific theater of operations during the Second World War. After returning home he was introduced to Ellen Mosiman on a blind date, and on July 5th, 1947 they were married. Together they raised two sons and two daughters, and shared almost 68 years together.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, and have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home of Canton. Dr. Diane Suzanne McCarthy Cantellops Place, EdD, 59, of Towanda, PA passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the home of her son, Michael A. Cantellops at 103 Watts St. in Towanda following an extended illness.
Diane was born in Towanda on November 5, 1955 the daughter of John H. “Jack” McCarthy and Judith Emily “Judy” Fry McCarthy. ![]() Glenn Pratt, 94, Trout Run, PA passed away February 13, 2015 at The Gatehouse in Williamsport. Born June 29, 1920 in Gamble Township, PA near Rose Valley, Glenn was a son of the late Joseph and Edith (Sellers) Pratt. After graduating from Ralston High School, he served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Glenn earned the rank of Corporal and saw action with the 283rd Field Artillery Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, The Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns including The Battle of the Bulge. ![]() J. Earl Preston, 92, of Roaring Branch, Union Township, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Troy Community Hospital. Born April 16, 1922 at his parents’ farm in Union Twp., Earl was one of four children of the late John Edwin and Mildred (Rutty) Preston. He married the former Ida Brown on Feb. 3, 1945 in Alba. They shared 65 years together before her passing on May 16, 2010. Earl began his life-long career in dairy farming as a young man. He and Ida purchased the Preston View Farm, which adjoined his parents’ land. With devoted attention and hard work over the years, Earl with Ida by his side, made many improvements. He was blessed with a strong constitution and remained active until retiring in the mid 1990’s. |
