He enjoyed playing cards and watching golf and bowling on TV. In earlier years he was an avid bowler and bowled with one of the leagues in Canton. Known for his sense of humor, his often repeated self-assessment, "I’m fat and sassy," was an inaccurate description of his physical frame, but a perfect description of his personality.
On the afternoon of August 24, 2015, well known Ralston resident Graydon Roupp,82 passed away quietly at Loyalsock Nursing Home in Montoursville.

Roby, Age 90, of Route 6 Troy, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Troy Community Hospital. Cora was born December 23, 1924 in Mill Hall, PA daughter of the late Harry C. & Nettie M. (VanHorn) Allen. She was a graduate of Mill Hall High School. She and Paul R. Roby, Jr were married April 20, 1959 and celebrated 56 years together.
The funeral was held at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. Troy, PA, June 19 with Reverend Garry Zuber of the First Baptist Church of Troy officiating. Interment was be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy. Dayl L. Ripley, 64, of Mansfield, PA, died Sunday June 14, 2015 at Troy Community Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1951 in Binghamton, NY a daughter of Leonard Rockwell and Janet (Newberry) Roblyer. She was the Club Administrator at Corey Creek Golf Club for over 25 years. A former member of the women's bowling league at Terrace Lanes, Troy, Dayl enjoyed spending time with her beagles, gardening, and the outdoors. Anita (McIlwain) Rush was born on April 3, 1928 to Lawrence W. and Gertrude B. McIlwain, and passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015. The family lived in Canton for many years before moving to California. Anita was a resident of San Jose, California at the time of her passing. Her siblings LaRue and LaMar McIlwain passed away before her. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Potter (Pierson), Step-Daughter Sandy Stanley, Step-Son Tom Rush, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements were under the directions of Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125 Sharon I. (Nichols) Robbins, 72, of the Paul Reynolds Apartments in Troy, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Troy Community Hospital surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born on May 1, 1942 in Sayre, daughter of the late Donald H. and Eunice (Eiffert) Nichols. She was an SRU graduate and was Christian by faith. Sharon enjoyed sewing, knitting, and creating clothing. She also enjoyed cooking, tending to flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. Elizabeth Rebecca Sites Rought, 84, North Towanda, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Robert Packer Hospital. Elizabeth was born July 2, 1930 in Terrytown, PA, the daughter of Charles and Mary Hoyt Sites. On July 3, 1948 she married Harry L. Rought. Elizabeth devoted her life to her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, camping and fishing.
Florence Reese, 84, of Ralston, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born June 19, 1930 in Williamsport, Florence, “Flo”, was a daughter of the late Kermit E. and Gladys B. (Grenell) Starr. After graduating from Ralston High School in 1948, Florence studied cosmetology and received her certificate to teach hairdressing. On May 3, 1952, she married Robert D. Reese in Ralston. She and Bob shared 46 wonderful years together and raised seven children before his passing in 1998. Florence enjoyed being active in her church and community. She was an active member of the Ralston United Methodist Church, especially with the King’s Daughters Class, a Methodist women’s group; The church’s Parsonage Committee and Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She also served as communion steward and held many offices on the church’s board. Florence was a life-member of the Ralston Area Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and was secretary of Ralston High School’s Alumni Assoc. Betty J. Rockwell, 92, formerly of LeRoy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Twin Oaks Personal Care Home in Granville Summit. Born July 5, 1922 at the family home in LeRoy Township, Betty was a twin and one of eight children of the late Harry and Helen (Bunyan) Rockwell. She attended LeRoy Elementary School and graduated from Canton High School in 1941. Betty worked at Belmar Manufacturing in Canton in her early years. She then became a caregiver to her parents during their declining health. Betty loved life and appreciated nature’s beauty. She was a Christian, and God was with her everyday. She remained energetic and inquisitive all of her life. Most of all Betty loved her family. Even though she had no children of her own, she took an active part in raising and loving her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Betty enjoyed playing the piano and fiddle, watching baseball, and playing Pinochle with her family. “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest…Take my yoke upon you…for my yoke is easy and my burden is light: Matthew 11:28-30 ~ were the favorite verses of Leland E. Rice of Orwell Hill, Rome, Pa.
Leland passed into the arms of the Lord on January 31, 2015, at 86 years of age, following a lengthy illness. He loved the Lord and loved to tell others about Jesus. |
