Bud was born October 27, 1942 in Sayre PA, the son of the late Leonard & Madeline Secules. Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed spending time attending sporting events cheering on his grandchildren, attending family functions & spending time with numerous friends during the summers at Seneca Lake and at his winter home in Florida. Bud touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.

Bud touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all. ![]() Dolores Mae Stone, 92, of Ormond Beach, Florida was called home to the church triumphant on December 16, 2015. She was born in Canton, on August 12, 1923 and grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated from Canton High School, then attended Shenandoah College and Music Conservatory. In 1948 she moved to Arlington, VA and made her career with the Arlington County Police Department and Arlington County Public Library. She retired to Ormond Beach in 1986. Agnes Stowell, 63, of Troy, died December 12, 2015 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy.
She was born April 15, 1952 in Blossburg, a daughter of Addison and Etta (McNeal) Porter. Agnes enjoyed watching Gun Smoke and westerns on TV, playing Yahtzee and Aggravation. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth L. Stowell, Sr. on April 20, 2015 and would have celebrated 45 years of marriage on June 20th, 2015. Agnes is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Jennifer Stowell, Columbia Cross Roads; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie Lewis, Towanda, Darlene and Timothy Ayers, Troy, Peggy and Chris Selfridge, Canton; ten grandchildren, Travis, Cortney, Josh, Jake, Kerstin, Shaylee, Nathan, Alexis, Jayden and Cameron; great grandchildren, Bentley and Tatum; brothers and a sister-in-law, Dolson Porter, NC, Gary, Randy (Donna) and Tom all of Canton; sisters, Rose Jaquith, Troy, Pauline (Simeon) Jackson, Canton, Ruth Machemer, Troy; Mary (Joe) Walburn, Troy; mother-in-law, Shirley Seney of TN. On December 27th, 2915, Mary A. (Shedden) Carney, 73, Troy passed away quietly at Troy Community Hospital. Born December 2nd, 1942 in Windfall, Pa., she was the daughter of Harold J. and Evelyn (Walburn) Shedden.
Mary was a free spirited person who enjoyed the free-wheeling life of a carnival worker, travelling from one county fair to the next. Later she settled in Hoosick Falls ,NY, and worked several years as a bartender, where her quick sense of humor served her well. ![]() Lorraine Shisler, 77, of Shunk, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor. Born in Bucks County, Sellersville, PA on October 21, 1938, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Ann (Godshalk) Cressman. She attended the Kulpsville Elementary and Intermediate Schools and in 1956 graduated from North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA. Lorraine’s first job was with the Borough of Lansdale as an assistant to the borough secretary. She maintained her interest in government affairs throughout her lifetime. Lorraine married Robert Shisler on Sept. 5, 1958 at the Kulpsville United Church of Christ by Rev. James T. Rubright. She was a devoted wife and mother and they were blessed with two sons. ![]() Lela Smith, 86, Canton, PA (wife of Jasper) went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, suddenly and quietly at home on Wednesday afternoon, November 25, 2015. Lela Virginia was born in Boone, NC on November 16, 1929, the twelfth child and eighth daughter of the late Millard Isaac and Zora Cisco (Moretz) Castle. She attended the one-room school at Beech Flats until it closed and graduated in 1948 from Canton High School. On September 2, 1950, Lela and Jasper S. Smith were married at the Lutheran Church in Hughesville, PA by Rev. Herman Steumpfle. They resided in the Canton area during their over 65 years of marriage with the exception of four years in Burlington where Jasper was pastor of the Burlington United Methodist Charge. During the early morning hours of Sunday, November 22nd, 2015, William Taylor Sheffield, Sr., passed away quietly at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years of age.
Born August 18th, 1929 in Ether, North Carolina, he was the son of Elijah and Eulla Sheffield. He served our country with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was a POW survivor. After twenty years in the Navy Mr. Sheffield retired as a Chief Petty Officer. The mechanical engineer training that he received in the service served him well in his civilian employment with Dow Chemical Co. He was married to the former Leona Lessard, and together they raised six children at their Canterbury, CT home. For many years he served faithfully with the VFW, as well as other leadership positions in Connecticut. He was a well known member of his community who loved to be outside working in the garden and watching the birds. Later, he retired to Grover. Fabiano Erasmo Serpa, 84, of Millerton, passed away November 11, 2015 at Dar-way Elder Care in Estella. Born on April 27, 1931 in Brazil South America, he was the son of Manoel F. and Ophir (Gomes) Serpa. Fabiano was of the Catholic faith. He was a practicing attorney of law in Brazil before moving to New Jersey. In the states, he worked as a baker and a landscaper. Fabiano’s interests included reading and looking up information on the computer. Surviving are several dear friends, Judie Bertani of South Carolina, Linda (Ed) Stewart of Pine City, NY, Mark (Audrey) Voorhees and family; Austin, Olivia and Dylan of Pine City. Also like family were his caretakers and staff at Darway who took wonderful care of Fabiano. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Earl Werner. As per his wishes, there will be no public services. Those who wish may make a memorial to a charity of one’s choice. Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Dr. in Canton is in care of arrangements. He was 66 years of age, and husband of Karen (Yaggie) Sherwood. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, and have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home. Born February 26th, 1949 in St. Mary’s PA, he was the son of Victor and Alice (Chadwick) Sherwood. Jim spent his earliest years in Emporium until age five when his family relocated to LeRoy. The Sherwoods established a home for the elderly which served the Bradford County area for many years. The family became active in the former LeRoy Church of Christ. Jim served six years with the U.S. Army Reserves, and was married to the former Karen Yaggie. |
