A luncheon will be served immediately following the service. ![]() Earl “Dean” Smith, 78, of Spencer, OK, and former resident of Canton, PA, passed away Thursday, Jun 25, 2015 at his home. Earl was the son of the late Carl and Eleanor Smith of Canton, PA. ![]() Christy Lee (Ricci) Sterling, 38, of Gillett, PA passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital. She was the loving wife of Curtis A. “Schooch” Sterling, II. The couple married December 29, 1999 and had 15 happy years together. Christy was born on October 13, 1976 in Pottstown, PA, daughter of the late Vincent C. Ricci, Jr. She was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1995 and was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Horseheads, NY. Christy was a wonderful cook and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet Segur, 97, of Canton, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Troy Community Hospital.
Born November 19, 1917 in Williamsport, Janet Mae Watts Segur was one of three children of the late Perry and Dena (Ameigh) Watts. She graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1934. On January 8, 1944, she married Francis Segur. They made their home on the family dairy farm in Ward Township and raised two sons. Lester F. Sheffield, 100, of Elyria, Ohio died June 7, 2015 while residing at Wesleyan Village. He was born October 27, 1914, in Pittsfield, Ohio, the youngest son of Fred and Lulu (Pickworth) Sheffield. He was a 1932 graduate of Wellington High School (the oldest living alumnus at the time of his death) and a 1934 graduate of Oberlin School of Commerce. He was employed at Western Automatic Machine Screw/Stanadyne for 45 years from 1934 until his retirement in 1979. He lived in Pittsfield until 1939 when he married Arlene Campbell of Oberlin and then moved to Elyria, remaining there the rest of his life.
Dale L. Smith, 63 of Troy, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Dale was born March 13, 1952 in Troy son of the late Erle and Gladys (Kring) Smith. He was a graduate of Troy High School and moved to the Washington, DC area after graduating from diesel mechanics school in Williamsport. While there he became a United States Park Police Officer, a job that he loved. He later moved back to the Troy area and was involved in the care of his mother for many years. ![]() Timothy F. Stanton passed away peacefully with his family by his side April 22, 2015, at Manor Care Hospice in Winter Park, Florida. He was born April 30, 1957, at the Troy Community Hospital in Troy, Pennsylvania, to Donald and Phyllis Seeley Stanton. Tim underwent a heart transplant on August 23, 1998, after having suffered a devastating heart attack a few years prior. After this heart failed he underwent a second heart transplant on November 11, 2009, (each time at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.) After the second transplant he dealt with various serious complications of anti-rejection medications including kidney failure. His last few months were especially challenging and he chose discontinuing further treatment and entered hospice. He came to Florida with his friend BJ where he met the love of his life, Faith. They were married in Altamonte Springs on March 4, 1984. Tim was an eternal optimist and the epitome of positive thinking. When he received a lemon, he made lemonade and in voluminous amounts! He loved, and was loved, by his family. To know Tim was to love him. Kenneth L. Stowell, Sr., 69, of Troy, died, April 20, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Kenneth was born February 8, 1946 in Waverly, NY, a son of Max and Shirley (Forbes) Stowell. He was the husband of Agnes (Porter) Stowell. Kenneth was a mechanic at McClure Motors and loved tinkering on cars. On the morning of Sunday, April 12th, 2015, former Fassett resident Doris Ione (Sheets) Stone passed away quietly at Bradford County Manor. She was 82 years of age. Born in Hughesville on August 5th, 1932, and raised in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of Owen and hazel (Temple) Sheets. In 1952 she married Howard F. Stone, Jr., and together they raised three sons and two daughters. By 1969 the family moved to Fassett. Doris and Howard shared 48 years until his passing in 2000.
George E. Snyder, 88, of Granville Summit, PA formerly of New Jersey passed away, April 9, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor.
George was born on August 4, 1926 in Reaville, NJ son of the late Harry and Olive (Cronce) Snyder. He was married to the former Carlene Bishop. |
