Mandy was born July 7, 1977 in Elmira, N.Y., the daughter of Rick Welch and the late Mary Frances (Ashton) Welch. She was a 1995 graduate of Troy High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Mansfield University. Mandy always took great pleasure in time spent with family and friends. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and daughter. Although being confined to a wheelchair in later years, Mandy was always willing to lend a hand and enjoyed life to the fullest. She always looked forward to time spent together with her husband while helping him in his small engine repair business. Mandy was a woman of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Troy, Pa.
Amanda Marie (Welch) O’Connor, 41, of Canton, Pa., (Franklin Twp) passed away peacefully on February 19, 2019 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Wooster, 99, long-time resident of Roaring Branch (Union Twp., Pa.) peacefully passed away on Friday morning, December 7, 2018 at the Sherwood’s Retirement & Personal Care Home in Canton.
Eleanor was born in Newelltown, Pa. on July 26, 1919. She was a daughter of the late Bert and Lulu (Saxton) McIlwain. Eleanor was a life-time member of the Newelltown Methodist Church which was established in 1873. She was proud to be the longest attending member in the church’s history, having attended for 99 years. Eleanor held many church offices and it was there she became interested in a teaching career, when taking charge of the children’s Sunday school classes. After graduating from Canton High School in 1936, Eleanor attended Mansfield State Teachers College and received a certificate after two years. She then taught at Oregon Hill Pa. until 1940 when she married her beloved husband, Carty and became a farmer’s wife. After raising two children, Eleanor went back to college and received more credits and in 1961 started teaching at the Roaring Branch School until its closure. Mrs. Wooster then went to Canton Area Elementary School and taught second grade until retiring in 1983. Helen S. Weisskopf, age 91 formerly of Gillett, passed away in Jacksonville FL Wed. Aug. 9, 2018.
Born on Oct. 23, 1926 on Staten Island, NY; Helen was the daughter of the late, Hans & Anna Schultz Jaeger. She married the love of her life, Albert H Weisskopf on Feb. 19, 1949 on Long Island, and he predeceased her in May of 2007. Helen was a meticulous homemaker who took great pride in cooking and baking for her family and frequent guests. She enjoyed square dancing, was an active member of the Wells Jackson Lions Club, and during her 30 years in Gillett was a tireless volunteer and active communicant at St. Mary's Church. Delbert Wood, Troy, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor.

Warren was born August 20, 1931 in Lebanon, NY son of the late Wilmer & Ruth (Morse) Wilcox. Following graduation from Troy High School he attended Lycoming College for a year and later at Elmira College where he studied psychology. Warren was the proprietor of a mobile home park in Pine Valley for many years and prior to that worked as a carpenter and also was involved with his family farm where he worked the farm with his father in Windfall, PA. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 24 from 1-4 at the Canton Moose Lodge #429, 41 Sullivan Street, for Leora W. Wilcox.
Women of the Moose will be performing their funeral ceremony at 1:45 pm. Please join us. Delbert L. Wood, 88, Troy, passed away on Saturday June 23, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor.
He was the husband of the late Donna (Wilcox) Wood who passed away on September 5, 2004. The couple married January 4, 1950 and had 54 years together. Delbert was born October 25, 1929 in Canton, son of the late Walter H. & Daisy (Kinney) Wood. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and later was a forklift operator at Larimer & Norton in Troy until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his children Dale Wood of Troy and Joann (Paul) Starkweather of Iron River, MI, his grandchildren: Nikki Preston, Sheena (Christopher) Pettitt, Mara Wood, Crystal (Ethan) Paz, Tony Starkweather, Kayla (Josh) Luckey, his great grandchildren: Darius, Dalton, Mia, Carson, Allie Mae, and Austin. Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, his son George Wood, his sisters Mildred Kilgore and Eloise Howell. ![]() Cody Drew Wesneski, 26 of Canton Township is now at peace, after years of battling the disease of addiction. He passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Born on March 13, 1992, in Towanda, he was the son of David and Beverly Harris Wesneski. He was a 2011 graduate of Canton Area High School. Cody was an avid fooftball player from age six up to his senior year until he sustained a knee injury in the first game of the season which ended his football career. Cody also enjoyed wrestling in his junior high years. He made friends easily and was the social butterfly of his class; he was always willing to lend a hand when needed. Cody found his faith and comfort in God at Liberty Church and was a member of the church for the past five years. Cody was employed by South Mount Farms for the past two and half years and enjoyed his job and the sense of family he found there. ![]() Doris Jean (Persun) Wheeland, 96, Troy, PA passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Lew C. Wheeland. The couple married December 5, 1942 and had 56 happy years together. Doris was born on February 20, 1922 in Cogan House, PA, daughter of the late Ira Arthur and Florence Edna (Connelly) Persun. She was a 1939 graduate of Liberty High School and also graduated from Lycoming College’s Secretarial Department. During World War II Doris followed Lew all around the country depending on where he was stationed. Doris was a long time member of the United Methodist Church, attending Bay Village UMC from 1954-64, Ingomar UMC from 1964-89, Wellsboro UMC from 1989-2002, and First UMC of Troy from 2002-present. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Thursday Study Club, and the Troy Heritage Garden Club. On the evening of Thursday, April 26th, 2018 former Alba resident Phillip L. Wood passed away at his residence in Palm City, FL, following a lengthy illness. He was 87 years of age.
Born March 31st, 1931 in the Tioga County village of Bungy, he was the son of Arthur and Alice (Campbell) Wood. The family relocated to Alba where Phil attended the Canton Area Schools. Following his graduation from Canton High School Phil enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Roosevelt, and his home ports were Baltimore, MD and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Following his return to civilian life Phil was employed as a corrections officer at the Bradford County Correctional Facility. While attending a dance one evening he met a girl named Sally Soper. They were married in 1961 and shared fifty years until Sally’s passing. Phil enjoyed wood working and was an accomplished cabinet maker. He was a Past Governor of Canton Lodge #429, L.O.O.M., as well as a member of Canton Post #714 V.F.W., Canton Post #303 American Legion and the Red Run Rod & Gun Club. Phil was a soft spoken, laid-back man with a heart of gold and pleasant demeanor who warmed up to people easily. He had a marvelous sense of humor, accompanied by a perpetual twinkle in his eye and mischievous grin. He could dish out good natured “ribbing” with the best of them, and he could take it as well in a sportsman-like manner. Nothing ever seemed to phase him, and he always seemed to have a kind word for everyone. |
