Born Oct. 22, 1948 in Sayre, Pa., Ken was the son of the late Phillip and Zilpha (Kipp) Carnwright. He graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1966 and continued his education at the former Williamsport Area Community College earning an Associate’s degree in Heavy Equipment Operations. On July 12, 1970, Ken married the former Marcia Jenkins in Roseville, Pa.
Kenny possessed a strong work ethic all his life and was a gifted heavy equipment operator. In 1972, he began his career in excavating, later establishing Carnwright’s Excavating Company. He saw to its operations for many years until his retirement when handing the family business down to his daughter and son-in- law.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years, Marcia “Marcy”; his daughter and son-in-law, Jen and Chris Hibbert of Canton; three grandchildren, Levi Cole, Logan Cole and Haley Hibbert, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, special life-long friends, Tom May of Canton and Cliff Cross of Mansfield. Ken was predeceased by a grandson, Wyatt Hibbert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Helen Jenkins.
A memorial service in celebration of Ken’s life was at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17. Friends were invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton.
