Viv was born on July 23, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to her parents, Minor and Lillian Kresge. She trusted Christ as her Savior in Firwood Methodist Church at 10 years of age and was called to missions in Latin America while attending a Bible Conference at age 14.
She married Donald Bond June 11, 1949 while attending The King’s College where she received a BA in Languages.
After Donald graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary in 1955, they were appointed by the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism to the Upper Amazon of Peru in May of that year. They left the US on December 26, 1956 and served in Peru until December 31, 2002.
Don and Viv were engaged in a church planting ministry and planted many churches in the Amazon jungle towns, the high Andes mountain villages, and the coastal cities of Peru. Both received a Masters of Religious Education from Grand Rapids Seminary in 1982.
She will be remembered for her deep commitment to God’s Word and prayer. Her quick wit, joyful spirit and quiet, faithful service will remain an inspiration to the people she touched across the US, as well as Central and South America.
Viv was buried in a private ceremony on November 1.
A memorial service was held at the Maranatha Baptist Church, Sebring, FL.
