This annual event is organized and operated by a dedicated group of volunteers. Rekindle the Spirit, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, sponsors the festival. All proceeds benefit the local community. Free and low cost programs for the surrounding community are presented during the spring, summer and fall. Historical preservation is a key goal of Rekindle and it’s volunteers as evidenced by the South Meadow Villiage area.
Free entertainment will be available throughout the weekend. Check the paapplecheese.com web site for full details. Don’t forget the Apple Pie and Cheescake contest on Saturday morning in the back lawn of the house.
Both Saturday and Sunday the back lawn of the house will be the site for children’s activities. These are sponsored by Chemung Canal Trust Company.
Blacksmithing, broom-making, cider pressing, quilting, glass blowing and wood turning are just some of the demonstrations that will take place throughout the weekend. Visitors can tour an authentic 1860 cider press, the East Canton Community Hall and the Hoagland one-room schoolhouse. The blacksmiths will be demonstrating both days and also have items to sell. This year we are happy to have John Swartz, The Lantern Man back with his wonderful collection of lanterns. Jeff Deutschle will be turning wooden items on his pedal powered lathe. The fine art and photography show will be in the farm house. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the talents of our local artists.
