Our weather, be it as it may, is not very cooperative in trying to grow a few veggies in containers. Though I water every day – sometimes twice – the tomatoes look horrid. However, we’ve eaten several cucumbers and green beans and there are peppers coming on – slowly. The pails of potato plants look pretty good but no blossoms yet. We have about a dozen pears on the one tree, no peaches I can see, and hardly any apples. Our neighbors said their fruit trees are about the same as ours, and in addition, no cherries. Another sad year to be able to harvest any of these fruits. We are grateful to our local growers where we will gladly purchase what we need from them.
Regarding my husband Ron, he has felt pretty good – really enjoying sitting in the shade of the oak tree or on our new beautiful front porch. We love the new deck on the back of the house as well, but it faces west so afternoon sittings have been out when the thermometer touches that 90 degree mark. We have a new patio umbrella which will help a lot, but that storm we got Saturday afternoon was so windy it launched it right out of its container, and took the table and all into the air and slammed them down on the deck! We have a few repairs to make before we start over. Sometimes we feel we take two steps forward – then 5 back...
Our LeRoy Heritage Museum’s yard sale is this coming Saturday the 18th. As we lost the fundraising we need with no 4th of July Old Home Day, and having to cancel the Barclay Mt. Heritage Day, we desperately need money to continue renovations at the hotel property. If you look on line you’ll see the mountain of items that will be for sale, plus we will have lunch available and baked goods as well. Your support is greatly appreciated.
My many thanks go out to my brother Jeff for helping me complete our income taxes that are due this week – by the 15th. Somehow getting that 3 month reprieve still put me into a panic to complete. But – I was pleasantly surprised how much easier it all is now that we are BOTH retired.
Ron and I are so grateful to our Pastor Charlotte Morse for having the Sunday morning worship service at our Alba Church on-line via Facebook. There are so many churches in the area doing this and I’m sure folks are as appreciative to them as we are to ours.
