John E. Brenchley, PRSBA, Director of Management Services at BLaST IU #17, has been a PASBO member for 19 years, served and chaired numerous PASBO committees, written articles and tips for the PASBO Report and has presented at the conference and workshops, including the PASBO School Operations Academy. He was elected to the PASBO Board and eventually served as President in the 2012-13 year.
In addition to serving PASBO at both the regional and state levels, John is very active in the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) and with local health care consortiums. Extending beyond the education realm, he is very involved in the community and has served on many community boards – a bank advisory board, community nursing service foundation, county development corporation board, a library board, church advisory board -- and was a member of the Lions Club.
According to Williams Martens, BLaST IU #17 Executive Director, “John’s impact and advocacy for public education extends beyond the local region. As a long-serving board member of PASBO, he has insured that local districts are well represented. During his tenure at PASBO, John has also served as a strong advocate for intermediate units and actively lobbied for their representation. He has been especially valuable in presenting a perspective that intermediate units can be active partners with school districts looking to increase operational efficiency.”
Also named as recipient of the Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award this year was Janice R. Klein, Director of Business Services at Mt. Lebanon School District.
The Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award is PASBO’s highest honor and is given annually to a member or members who are selected on the basis of professionalism, superior job performance, development of innovative ideas and contributions to the profession of school business management. The award was created in 1977, following the tragic death of Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit #16 Deputy Executive Director Gary Reeser. Reeser was also PASBO’s Vice President at the time.
