The Armenia Township board of Supervisors met June 11 at the Township Office with Supervisors Wayne Morgan and Steve Harris; Secretary Mallory Babcock, Treasurer Gary Horning, Emergency Management Coordinator Ken Krise, and an audience of nine.

The Bradford County Heritage Association held its monthly meeting May 20. Attending were: Bonnie Pierce, Barbara Barrett, Ralph Knapp, Dale Palmer, Babs Morris, Marty Roloson, and Deb Lutz.
April’s minutes were reviewed and approved. The 3rd Annual “Farm Days 1866’ program was held May 11 & 12, 2015 with over 600 4th grade public, private and home schooled students and their chaperons attending. ![]() Cuz Excavating continues its practice of making generous donations to the community with a $1,000 gift to the Green Free Library. Owners Dave and Joy Ward are pictured with their grandchildren Gracelyn and Paislee. Mr. Ward is presenting the check to Librarian Cathy Golder. Gracelyn and Paislee are regular visitors to the Children Story Hour and craft events at the library, and Mrs. Ward says, "Cathy does a wonderful job. The kids love her, and she is always happy. We are glad to support the programs here." The Canton Borough Authority Board of Directors held its June meeting with Vice-Chairman Brian Landon presiding. Others present were Directors Frank Watson, David Zimmer and John Mosser, Manager Les Hilfiger, Solictor David Brann and Dennis Lingenfelter of Uni-Tec Consulting Engineers.
The directors approved the minutes of the May meeting and the payroll and invoices. Expenses included $218 for a new credit card machine that will read embedded chip cards. The Canton Fire Department Board of Directors held its June meeting with President Rich Bardo, Vice President Donna Shep-ard, Secretary Sherry Walmsley, Treasurer Jodie Bardo, Fire Chief J. Scott May, Deputy Chief George Jennings, Assistant Chief Ray Miller, Captain Carl Hartford, and municipal representatives Mark McMurray, Ed Sheaffer, Mike Miosi, and Darryl Jannone.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. ![]() On May 29, 2015, Lorie A. Hipple, former Canton resident, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. Lt. Col. Hipple is the director or operations for the 59th Training Squadron (TRS) and the course director, Nurse Transition Program (NTP). As the largest medical training platform in the Air Force (AF), the 59 TRS educates and trains officers and enlisted members in 28 different AF specialty areas including Physician Graduate Medical Education, nursing, and allied health career fields. The 59 TRS graduates an average of 550 personnel yearly with daily student populations of 250. Summer is upon us and you still have the chance to make it memorable for a New York City child! Each summer, nearly 4,000 inner-city children visit suburban, rural and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program. By volunteering as a host family in the Southwest Seneca Lake Area, you can help give a child a break from the heat and noise of the crowded city streets while enjoying your own backyard! The Fresh Air Fund is currently seeking more families to give inner-city children a Fresh Air experience this summer.
On Sunday June 21 The Towanda Universalist Unitarian Fellowship invites you to join them at 3 pm in the Fellowship building as Allyson Freyre examines how many of us think of life as a journey. Furthermore, we generally prefer to avoid thinking about what happens at the end of that journey. How are these attitudes affecting us, both as individuals, and as a society? How might things be different if, instead, we viewed our lives as works of art and we celebrated their completion? Join us in considering the possible effects of this change in perspective.
Keystone College celebrated its 144th commencement during ceremonies at the Pavilion at Montage, Scranton, on Saturday, May 16. Degrees were conferred upon 349 students. Keystone graduates Dr. Lloyd H. Michael ’62 and his wife Barbara Ann Smith Michael ’62 provided the keynote address and Keystone President Dr. David L. Coppola presided over the ceremony. Dr. Coppola and Dr. Karen K. Yarrish, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, conferred the degrees to the graduates.
