Members were excited to see one another and one member stated that “it’s good to see people again”!
Members were greeted by server Tracy, who took the orders of a prearranged menu. Choices of ham and bean or potato soup along with a BLT or a grilled cheese sandwich were made and apple crisp was served for dessert. Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal and being together again. After all the orders were taken, President Bob Whipple welcomed everyone and led the group in the flag salute and then offered the blessing before the meal was served Finally some much-needed rain here and there. The lawn was getting so brown and I was watering the container garden everyday.
In my travels throughout the area I’ve seen loads of elderberry bushes in blossom. Our decades old Florabunda rose bush is in bloom right now. It was a gift from my mother and has been moved a couple of times due to different kinds of renewals going on and it seems to bloom only every other year or even three. Kinda like our apple tree – which doesn’t appear to be very “fruitful” right now. Time will tell. .C&N is selling t-shirts to help feed our community through our local food banks and backpack programs. Each t-shirt sells for $28.99 with shipping and will provide nutritious food for a family of four for more than 18 days. To purchase a shirt, visit any C&N office or cnbankpa.com. Each year thorough their Giving Back, Giving Together (GBGT) program, C&N partners with local organizations to provide support towards different causes impacting local communities. For 2020, GBGT turns its focus to Fighting Hunger. Millions of people are now facing financial strain as a result of the economic impacts associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Many are now relying on food banks for sustenance. As consumer demand has placed constraints on supply chains, fewer donations are reaching the food banks, causing uncertainty for those who depend on them. To make matters worse, many of the volunteers who pack and distribute food are seniors who are particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. Food banks need our help now more than ever. photo provided
