A Canton-area woman reported to us that she received one of these calls, and wanted us to pass the word for people to be skeptical of phone calls, supposedly from the IRS, demanding payment or making threats. The IRS does not operate in this manner and any such calls are illegitimate. The new sidewalk was in and it was a bright, sunny morning, and six vendors set up shop at the Canton Farmers' Market, Sept. 19. Kenny Biggs sold goodies to raise funds for his trip to Mexico; The ladies from Country Delights had bread, baked goods and garden produce; John Carpenter sold Piatt Road honey products; Amanda Connell and family sold cinnamon buns, bread and eggs; Ray Chaapel had mousetraps, beets and potatoes and Marlene Boyce had raspberries for sale. Country Delights said it was their last day but they would be back in the spring! The Farmers' Market will remain open until the weather's too cold or vendors don't show up. The Farmers' Market will return September 26 from 8 am to noon in Canton's Main St. Park. People with baked goods, garden or farm produce, craft items or similar wares are invited to set up. He was presented with the award in September at the 2015 Steamtown Music Awards. For more than two decades, Alexander has been perhaps the most respected person within the musical community of northeastern PA. As a founding member of The Badlees, he served as the band’s principal song writer for 24 years. The Badlees “River Songs” tour, which lasted nearly two years, including shows with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, The Allman Brothers and Bob Seger. The 2015 Heritage Festival, which is held in Alparon Park in Troy was once again a success with good weather both days.
Visitors to the festival where able to visit the Museum where they saw lots of artifacts and looked into the theme of the festival which was Timber. There were a lot of displays on the field which included old cars, tractors, horse wagon rides, and children's activities. John Brannaka, Roaring Branch earned an AS for the 2yr Physical Therapist Assistant program. Stacey Hussmann Columbia Cross Roads, World Campus earned an AS in the 2yr Business Administration program.
Korey White, Columbia Cross Roads, B S in Criminal Justice. The Armenia Township board of supervisors met on September 10 with Supervisors Chad Harwick and Steve Harris, Treasurer Gary Horning, Secretary Mallory Babcock and an audience of six.
Resident Dan Bastion questioned why the drainage problem by his property is still unresolved. The Supervisors answered that the residents in the area need to make some decisions regarding the private road drainage issues before the township can proceed with any possible corrective measures on Douglas Road. The Board felt the issue really is one for the residents of Doe Run Lane to resolve and not a township issue. Resident James Smith asked about having reflectors placed in the road on Fallbrook Road to assist in the road visibility on foggy nights. Supervisor Harris stated he would have the road-man look into the cost. The minutes of the August meeting were approved. |
