This Sunday. October 4, Jean Spencer will lead The Towanda Universalist Unitarian Fellowship (TUUF) in a service called "The Day the World Came to Town". This service is based on a book of the same name. It promises to be meaningful, and will leave the congregation in thoughtful contemplation. It tells the story of what is a little known piece of the mosaic of people helping people and other beings through this world's most major terrorist attack in living memory – 9/11.
The East Canton United Methodist Church made a $500 donation to the Canton Area Recreation Association to be used for the War Memorial Swimming Pool.
This donation was made possible due to the efforts of the "Apple Dumplin' Gang," who make the apple dumplings that are sold each year at the PA Apple & Cheese Festival in East Canton. Harvest Supper, Oct. 8

The excitement begins Saturday with men and women competing in ax throwing, log rolling, men’s crosscut, Jack & Jill Crosscut, separate underhand chop for both men and women, the bow saw, the popular stock saw and hot saw competitions. Beech Flats Grange will meet, Oct. 8 at the Grange Hall at 2 pm. Bring Halloween treats for refreshments.
“Thursdays at the Rialto” continues on October 15, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Rialto Theatre in Canton.
Performing for the second concert in the series is Zing-ology a quartet from the Ithaca, NY area that specializes in vintage swing from the golden era American jazz between 1920 and the end of the 1940ʼs. Greg Conlon, a powerful vocalist, leads the group with amazing renditions of these classic dance tunes. Do you enjoy these tunes: Pennies from Heaven, My Funny Valentine, Autumn Leaves, Ain’t Misbehavin' and Don’t Get Around Much Anymore? They are just a sampling of the music you will enjoy on October 15 at the Rialto Theatre. It was sort of a quiet day at the Canton Farmers' Market, Sept. 26.
Kenny Biggs sold goodies to raise funds for his trip to Mexico; John Carpenter sold Piatt Road honey products; Ray Chaapel had mousetraps, beets and potatoes The Farmers' Market will return October 3 from 8 am to noon in Canton's Main St. Park.
