![]() At their December meeting, the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce honored their outgoing president Jodi Wesneski, who did not run for re-election. Jodi was first elected president in 2008 and under her tenure the Chamber has instituted many new programs including the very successful Wine & Cheese Festival, the Chamber gift certificate program, the Christmas raffle, Small Business Saturday events and the throw and crockery promotional item series. Due to Jodi’s efforts, the Chamber has re-established its 501©6 status, purchased the Main Street Park and made improvements including new concrete, removal of old vegetation and installation of security cameras. The minutes from the November meeting were approved and the treasurer's report approved with these balances: General Fund, $45,496.56; Liquid Fuels, $61.050.45; EZ Access CD, $50,444.65; 36-month fixed CD, $50,444.65; Impact Fee/Capital Reserve, $77,947.81; Fire Escrow Insurance, $9,900.40; Towanda Creek Watershed, $5.00. The fourth quarter fire contract payment of $13,156.65 is due on December 15. The Supervisors approved a tentative 2015 budget of $397,050.50 with the real estate millage unchanged at 6.5 mills. There is a 2.5% discount for early payment and a 10% penalty for late payments. ![]() The late David B. Morris was a member of The Bradford County Regional Arts Council and a big booster of the Rialto Theatre. He is remembered with this block, placed in front of the Rialto last week. It bears the extremely appropriate phrase that was David's trademark.
