MUSEUM HOURS
The museum will be closed now through the end of August. A decision will be made later in the year about possible fall hours and an announcement will be made at that time.
BARCLAY MOUNTAIN HERITAGE DAY
The annual Barclay Mountain Heritage Day event is canceled and will be rescheduled for 2021. LeRoy Heritage Museum will offer an online event on August 8 when the speakers and performers will release specially recorded videos on the museum website. Videos will be provided by Van Wagner, Noggin Hill band, and Matt Carl. Sponsors for the event will be recognized through this online venue and then recognized again on a sponsorship banner at the 2021 event, separate from the 2021 event sponsors. If you did not already sponsor this year’s event but would like to sponsor the online content that we will be releasing, visit www.leroyheritage.org/2020-event where you can pay your sponsorship online. Your support during this difficult time is appreciated. We are working on an online auction for that day as well.
Member’s Day, usually held in May, was postponed. A decision will be made later in the summer as to whether we can hold this event, but if not, we will provide our annual reports and ballot by mail to members. The museum will not provide any open hours or food sales on July 4, 2020.
FUNDRAISING
LeRoy Heritage Museum is asking all those who would normally visit the museum during the summer to consider still making a donation just as they would if they visited in person. We have released multiple educational local history videos on the LeRoy Heritage Museum YouTube channel during the pandemic that have been viewed by thousands of people. Consider watching these videos in place of visiting the museum this year and your donations to our effort will be greatly appreciated. You may purchase membership, books or other gift shop products through our website at www.leroyheritage.org. Your financial contributions are needed to help us meet our budget for the year, even though we have been forced to scale back operations. We are planning a yard sale for this summer to help raise funds – the date will be announced soon. If you have items that you would like to donate to the sale, you may contact the museum at 570-364-5003 or through our website. We do not accept clothes, upholstered furniture, pianos, or organs
ONGOING PROJECTS
With the unexpected closure of the museum, we will be making use of this time to work on packing and moving most of our stored museum collections to the completed rooms in the hotel building. A long list of work was completed at the new building this past winter and we are ready to complete drywall this year. We are working to stay on schedule to finish the new museum building by the end of 2021, which is the 20th anniversary of LeRoy Heritage Museum and the 125th anniversary of the hotel building.
