The Troy School District Working Session brought a few interesting presentations before the Board.
Autumn Alleman, Troy’s Member Services Representative for the Pennsylvania School Board Administration talked about Troy’s membership. Alleman said Troy is adhering to the PSBA standards well and presented an award. Board member Dan Martin was presented with a certificate (over zoom with a physical copy soon coming) of the Honor Roll of School Board Service commemorating his 12 years of service on the school board.
Freeman noted that once students enter the program she keeps detailed files on their progress and notes classes and practical skills the students learn to help them in the future. In prior years this included taking students to job fairs, mock interviews, actual interviews, and on-site job shadowing.
Freeman reported that students now are currently engaged in many similar activities like virtual job shadowing and interviews over phone or zoom. Freeman also said her department was looking into hosting a virtual job fair for the students in the program, noting this would be the first of its kind in this area of the state. Later, board member Bill Brasington thanked Mrs. Freeman for her dedicated work and her creative ideas like the virtual job fair that would “allow Troy to continue to lead the way in this important pursuit.”
In some housekeeping decisions, the board voted to approve the hiring of Lanaya Storrs for a full-time paraprofessional position and Megan Johnson for a part-time cafeteria position.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
