Boy Scout Troop 33 held a ceremony on Monday, September 28 to honor the boys achievements over the last 4 months. They received rank advancements and merit badges along with special awards for participation in various events. Advancement from ranks Scout through First Class are designed to teach the boys Scoutcraft skills, how to participate in a group and to learn self-reliance. Scout is the joining rank, and is awarded when the Scout demonstrates a rudimentary knowledge of the Scouting ideals. Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class have progressively harder requirements in the areas of Scoutcraft, physical fitness, citizenship, personal growth and Scout Spirit. |

Each scout was given a patch for attending summer camp. Special patches were given for completing the Dan Beard program at camp. That is a camp program designed for first year scouts. Patches and certificates were given if the boys completed the Polar Bear Challenge. The challenge is get up at 5:30 on two or more mornings and take a dip in the refreshing lake. Patches were also given to the scouts that participated in the trip to the USS Yorktown.
