The County developed and implemented its Supervised Bail program to address both cost and capacity issues, and experienced positive results shortly afterward. The program provides the court system with alternatives to jail at every level of contact. Supervised bail is utilized at times when a sentence of probation has been revoked and a resentencing date is pending. Since implementation, the county saved at least $395,000 of what was previously spent to house inmates in other counties.
The Bradford County Commissioners are pleased to report that the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP) awarded the Bradford Co Correctional Facility an honorable mention in the small jail category for its Supervised Bail program at a ceremony on June 15, 2015 that honored county jails, juvenile detention centers and alternative programs that have implemented best practices and exemplary programming. The ceremony was held at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College, PA.
