The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
The board approved paying March bills of $9,051.12, including $6,213 to Gannon Associates for insurance premium; and $6,075.18 in April bills, including $820 for training courses through Bucks County Community College at the Muncy Area Mutual Aid field.
Balances are: Checking, $70,987.22; Savings, $50,528,21; and reserve of $1,822.68.
Preventative Maintenance will begin in April. It was thought this would have started in March but a scheduling conflict with the supplier caused the delay.
The company that the fire company has used for inspections of the ladder truck has decided to remain in business, so will inspect the truck as before.
The Grant Trick family presented a taser to the Canton Police Department. This was done in memory of the former fire chief. Mr. Jannone thanked the family for the donation, saying that this non-lethal force weapon will enhance safety and may avoid a tragedy.
The new hoses and nozzles have been delivered and the hose was used at the Roaring Branch trailer fire.
The power plant for the "jaws of life" tool has failed and is not fixable. The department still has the capability to use two jaws tools. The Relief Association is looking to purchase a new unit, at a cost of between $40,000 and $60,000. Demonstrations will be held to see which type of unit to purchase. The old unit is still functional, other than the power plant, and may be donated to Ralston or another company.
The County Commissioners have announced that they will again make donations to each fire and ambulance company in Bradford County, through impact fee funds. Chief May said, "We appreciate it." He noted that some fire departments in other counties wish their Commissioners would make similar donations.
The radio base station is out of service. This is not eligible to be paid through the Relief Association, so it is hoped that it is a phone line problem but it may be equipment in the tower.
The hose on the tanker truck has been replaced. Some valves leaked but they have been addressed. Mr. Jennings said, "All the trucks are in good shape."
Nine members of the department will attend training for "Engine Operations with Light Staffing." The Bradford County Firemen's Association will cover part of this cost, so the expense is down to about $80 per person.
Chief May said a review of last year's expenses shows that although some items are over budget and some are less than expected, the department is just under the overall budget.
It is hoped that the audit might be done in May.
