Several business people from Canton and Troy have volunteered to be put in a "Mock Jail." They need to raise "bail" to get them out. The "bail" will go to the Team Support Brigade, which will take part in the "Making Strides 5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness" event at Indian Park in Montoursville, Oct. 19. The funds will be used for cancer research and transportation and lodging for families.
The Wells-Jackson Lions Club is sponsoring a chicken-and-biscuits dinner on Friday, September 18, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at the Millerton Wesleyan Church, 5174 Main Street, Millerton, PA. This dinner is for the benefit of our community and is open to the public. The cost of $8.00 and $7.50 for children and seniors includes beverage and dessert. Take-outs are available. At a recent meeting of the Troy Rotary, President Preston Edsell introduced Mike Strobel from the Jackals organization and then Robert Storch who introduced Dominick Ayers, the winner of the "Tink Crandall" award.
After the presentations Mr. Edsell thanked both for being there and continued the meeting. He noted that sign up sheets to work the gates at the Heritage Festival were available an encouraged members to take part. Troy HIgh School's Class of 1958 is having a picnic on Saturday, September 26th, 2015 at 1 PM at Jan Kellogg's home in East Smithfield. It will be held rain or shine. Please bring a dish to pass. Are they automatic? Do we have to be in the right place at the right time? Sit quietly and meditate? Think positive thoughts and pray for wealth without working? Is there something we can do? We would all have to agree that Gods blessings are not equally distributed nor given automatically as some would expect. In fact Psalm 41 begins with an insightful statement: Blessed is the person who has compassion for the poor or weak and does something about it. God cares for the weak and the poor and the oppressed and is delighted when we do something on their behalf. In fact, David says that those who show Gods compassion will be delivered when they are experiencing the difficulties of life. But there is more. Four Mansfield University Chemistry students, along with two MU faculty members and one former faculty member, collected water samples and performed well water quality analysis in Tioga County, PA through a grant from the Tioga County Commissioner’s Office this summer.
Students Emily Edwards, Martin Holdren, Joseph Mandeville and Megan Terrel, supervised and assisted by Professor Shaker Ramasamy, Assistant Professor Michele Conrad, both from the Department of Chemistry and Physics, and Paul Wendel, now on the faculty in the Department of Education at Otterbein University, OH, were involved in the project. ![]() Starting September 8, there will be a MOPS group in Canton at New Life Church, corner of Rt. 14 and McMurray Road, Canton, PA. MOPS will be meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of the month until May. Meetings will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Child care for mothers attending the meeting is provided. What is MOPS? MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers, they mean kiddos from birth through kindergarten. They know it is a little confusing so let's just stick with "MOPS". Jedidiah Estrada of Troy graduated from Binghamton University this past Spring with a Bachelor of Science, in Business Administration Supply Chain Management. Troy TOPS #986 met August 31 at the Troy Vets Club with thirteen members weighing in. There was a total loss of three pounds. Top TOPS was Brenda with 1 1/2 lbs. and top KOPS were Betty and Marilyn, who turtled.
The fruit basket was shared by Betty, Marilyn and Brenda. There was no menu winner and no quarter game winner. The No-No is fried foods and the Yes-Yes is fruits. This is your week winner was Brenda. Runner-up was Mary Lou. |
