Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative will return $1.1 million to members and former members of the cooperative in June. The refunds are the result of action by the Claverack board of directors to approve the retirement of $1.1 million in capital credits during its April board meeting.
For her response to a national contest regarding how participation in a program offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology helped her, a Penn College student was recently selected to receive a Mapworks Scholarship.
The recipient, Dalaney T. Vartenisian, of Trout Run, is a Dean’s List student in the college’s Web and interactive media major and holds a part-time job on campus as a student photographer. ![]() Animal Care Sanctuary is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Denise Drabick as the new Wellsboro Director. Denise comes with extensive background having been Principal of the Southern Tioga School District for over ten years and an Online Instructor for Humane Education University and DeSales University. She has volunteered for Animal Care Sanctuary since they started operating the Wellsboro shelter in 2011. She traveled to Charleston, SC to receive training to present the Veterinary Science Initiative in the schools in Tioga County, which has been enthusiastically received and will continue to expand over the next school year. The Small Business ImPAct Award, one of five Governor's ImPAct awards given to businesses in each of the 10 PREP regions, recognizes a small business that has been an industry innovator, demonstrated revenue/profit growth, increased its workforce, and committed to the growth and development of employees and the community. ![]() Karly Warner of Telford, PA was named to the Dean’s List at Bloomsburg University for the Spring 2015 semester by earning a 3.83 GPA. To make the Dean’s List, a student must earn at least a 3.50 GPA based on at least 12 semester hours of coursework. She will be a Senior and is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Art. Some of her art work will be featured this summer in a gallery exhibition at the Greenly Center Gallery in downtown Bloomsburg. Karly is active as Treasurer of Chi Theta Pi, a Greek sorority, and was formerly Rush Chairperson. Karly is the daughter of Kathy & Jere Warner and granddaughter of Joey & Ellen Foust of Granville Summit. ![]() On June 1, some members of the Canton Garden Club joined the residents of Sherwood's Personal Care Home, along with the Sherwood grandchildren, to plant some flowers in pots to brighten the patios and walkways at the home. After the planting party, Sherwood's provided cookies and beverages for all to enjoy. ![]() Class of 1955 recently held their 60th reunion on May 24th.
