O n a beautiful Sunday afternoon June 27, the Bradford County Commissioners hosted their annual fun run to benefit the Bradford County Humane Society.
The run started at the top of Mt. Pisgah County Park, where 94 participants including Commissioner Darryl Miller lined up. The race was just over 3 miles in length, with a tough incline for the last third of the race, but it didn’t lower anyone’s spirits. Employees from the Humane Society were on hand with one of their dogs, a 3-year-old pit mix named Diesel to cheer on everyone.
LeRaysville local Bob Moore was the first to finish the fun run and was the first to be greeted at the finish line by Western Alliance EMS, who were handing out cold bottles of water to all participants. Also given out were medals to all runners. The medals were 1/3 sections of a single medal, which can be combined with two other parts representing two other fun runs the commissioners put on every year to make one large medal.
After the race, participants and volunteers were treated to a free lunch and plenty more water, lemonade, and iced tea. Anyone looking to help the humane society can donate items, particularly non-perishable items like cat litter and laundry detergent, or sponsor pets like Diesel to help cover their adoption fees.
