![]() Bradford County Sheriff C.J. Walters and four Bradford County Police Chiefs have formally endorsed Jeffrey A. Smith's candidacy for Bradford County District Attorney. Joining Walters in the endorsement are Athens Township Police Chief Larry Hurley, Canton Borough Police Chief Doug Seeley, Sayre Borough Police Chief Dan Reynolds, and Towanda Borough Police Chief Randy Epler.
Come for a day of fun and help support Big Brothers Big Sisters which serves Bradford, Sullivan and Tioga Counties in PA and Tioga County in NY. The organization benefits young children, with both Community and school based Big Buddy matches, and with your support BBBS will continue their services.
Our 20th annual Motorcycle Rally will be held on June 7th. Registration will be from 9-10 am at Sherwood Groves, in Wysox, where coffee and donuts will be provided. The ride is $10 per person which includes a lunch at the end of the ride which is being cooked by the Wild Pigs Organization. This year each participant will receive a special 20th anniversary patch for attaching to a favorite garment or hat. Many area merchants have generously provided great door prizes. ![]() Raven Nolt was selected as a recipient of the Gayle Clark Nursing Education Award. Gayle Clark was an Instructor at the Northern Tier Career Center Practical Nursing Program and enjoyed teaching the knowledge and skills necessary to become a nurse. The Practical Nursing Program located at Northern Tier Career Center, Towanda, PA is in its 32nd year. It is a one-year program that qualifies graduates to apply for licensure in Practical Nursing. Practical nurses work in nursing homes, doctors’ offices, hospitals, and home health care as well as in other areas of health care. The Bradford Co Veterans Memorial Park Association and the Towanda Borough administrators are in exciting times as we watch the new park taking shape. The pavers and benches, along with The Veteran poem monument were in storage for the winter months courtesy of Global Tungsten Powders on Merrill Parkway, Towanda. We have since moved them to a nearby facility owned by Towanda Borough to make installation easier and quicker. Bradford/Sullivan County Farm Bureau celebrated National Ag Day on March 26. Barbara Warburton and Kathy Yoachim placed the 2014 American Farm Bureau Book of the Year titled THE BEEMAN by Laurie Krebs and Valerie Cis in numerous elementary schools throughout the county. Bradford county library and some of the public libraries in both counties will have books.
The Penn State Master Gardeners of Bradford County announce that Julianne Schieffer, Urban Forester in Montgomery County, will deliver the keynote address at the 10th Annual Endless Mountains Gardening Day, Saturday, April 18th. Her topic: ‘Top 10 Trees & Shrubs for Wildlife’, demonstrates why native plants, which are well suited to survive and usually require little maintenance, are welcomed by wildlife. Everyone needs to eat including birds and wild animals and native shrubs and trees provide shelter, foliage, nectar, pollen, berries, seeds, and nuts as well as a place to raise their young and thrive. Learn how landscaping can be multi-purpose, beautifying the home and helping with healthy sustainable habitats.
The Bradford County Dairy Promotion Board is excited to announce that it will again be offering a Scholarship and Continued Education Program. In an effort to advance and promote dairy farming in Bradford County, the Dairy Promotion Board developed this program to encourage people of all ages to pursue continued dairy education. Funds can be used to improve management, leadership, business, herdsman and dairy skills on the farm.
Bradford County has been awarded $10,271 in Federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program State Set-Aside (SSA) process. These funds will be available to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the Bradford County. ![]() Kathy and Paul Yoachim, with the Ronald McDonald House of Danville, Inc., accept a check in the amount of $1,500 from Wendy Youmans, Corporate Communication Coordinator and Scott Snow, Stakeholder Relations Advisor with Talisman Energy USA. The funds were used in support of the Ronald McDonald House Food Check Out Day Fundraiser. Talisman is committed to making contributions to local organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House in order to support the communities in which the company operates through their Good Neighbor Program. |
