The Chamber presently has ninety-six members. The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce held its July meeting at First Citizens Community Bank. President Eric Schoonover conducted the meeting.
Members provided news about their businesses: • Canton Borough - Free Swim Days have been scheduled at the War Memorial Pool, two sponsored by the VFW and one by the Chamber. The Rt. 14, 414 project is proceeding well, When the base work is completed work will begin on the handicapped accessible crosswalks; after that the paving will begin. The Borough passed a revised LERTA Ordinance, limited to the Watson Diesel property on Troy Street. The Canton Wine & Cheese Festival Committee will host the first amateur winemaking competition at this year’s festival on June 27th. Non-professional winemakers, age 21 and over, are encouraged to enter their wines to compete for recognition and prizes.
The Sixth Annual Canton Wine & Cheese Festival will take place this Saturday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm in East Canton. The festival will feature wine tasting by Pennsylvania Wineries as well as food, crafts and entertainment throughout the day.
![]() The Canton Wine & Cheese Festival Committee will raffle off two baskets at the 6th annual event on June 27th at the Manley-Bohlayer Farm. The baskets contain gift certificates from many local businesses as well as wine-related products and gifts. Tickets to win the raffle baskets can be purchased at the Wine & Cheese Festival for $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. The following local businesses and organizations have contributed to the raffle baskets: Pennsylvania Apple & Cheese Festival, Canton Chatterbox, Canton Pharmacy, Flavorland, Golden City, IHS, Kelley’s Creek Side Restaurant, the Rialto Theatre, Rockwell’s Mill, Thompson Sports & Apparel, the Elmira Jackals, Doc’s, Wiggle 100, Mill Street Carmel Corn, and the Canton Chamber of Commerce. The Canton Wine & Cheese Festival committee invites the community to help prepare the Manley-Bohlayer Farm for the exciting event that brings so many out of town folks to our area. A work-bee will be held at the farm on Thursday, June 25 & Friday, June 26 beginning at 6:00 PM and everyone is invited. The committee can also use additional assistance immediately after the festival is over on Saturday, June 27th. It takes an army, or in this case, a community to bring these events to our area. Talented local and area musicians will be participating in this highly anticipated upcoming third annual event.

Members provided information about future happenings: The opening date for the Canton War Memorial Pool is June 6. Those wishing to reserve the pavilion are asked to register at the Pool or the Borough Office. PennDOT will begin preliminary work on paving on Rt. 414 the week of June 15. Verizon Wireless is looking forward to attending meetings of the Chamber. The Canton Wine & Cheese committee has announced their featured wine vendors for the June 27th festival. The day-long event will feature Pennsylvania wineries, craft vendors as well as full-service food vendors.
The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce held its May meeting on May 7 at First Citizens Community Bank. President Eric Schoonover conducted the meeting. It was a morning meeting. The Chamber has started a pattern of alternating between noon and morning meetings to provide opportunity for more businesses to attend.
