BRADFORD COUNTY — Bradford County Commissioners answered questions during a ZOOM meeting about whether or not they have received direction from Harrisburg on moving forward with COVID-19 restrictions.
The county is currently in “Green Phase” per Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan, but are still restricted in certain aspects, such as a 50% capacity at restaurants.
“We’ve got to start living our lives,” said Doug McLinko. “At this point, it should be about personal responsibility. If you don’t feel safe to go outside your house, don’t.”
Commissioner Daryl Miller noted that the veteran’s outreach van (formerly the old Bookmoble) was on display in front of the courthouse last week and ready for use.
“It’s a new addition to the service they provide and they did a great job on it,” said Miller. “A lot of donated time, effort and resources to putting that van into service and we want to thank all those involved.”

Commissioners also discussed the upcoming second Bradford County race, at Sunfish County Park on Saturday, July 11.
“It’s a great outdoor activity,” said Commissioners Daryl Miller. “We look forward to seeing lots of participants.”
The race will begin at 9 a.m. The winner will be the one who finishes the most laps. Go to the Bradford County website for more details.
Commissioner Doug McLinko also announced Fourth of July fireworks at Stone Mountain, called “Thunder on the Mountain.” He said that Monroeton Fire Department is selling $5/carload for parking in Mountaineer Park during the July 4th event. The donation will go towards the department and items they need.
“I applaud Bob Raimo (Shooter’s Gauntlet) for doing this,” said McLinko, who says most of the planned fireworks in the area have been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“If you’re able to, definitely donate to your local fire departments and emergency medical systems.”
Due to COVID restrictions, a lot of fundraisers, such as summer carnivals, are cancelled. They tend to be bigger money-makers for local fire departments.
The next Bradford County Commissioner’s meeting will be July 9 at the Sunfish County Park at 10 a.m. It will also be recorded and uploaded to the Bradford County Commissioner’s Facebook once they return to service.
