TROY — Troy Borough Council reviewed a request from a local organization as well as new equipment in their Feb. 24 meting at the Troy Sale Barn.
First on the agenda was a pump rental with WWTP. Borough Manager Dan Close noted that the rental would be $1,230 a week, or $3,690 a month, which is not feasible for the borough council to rely on more than only temporary. However, the rental is needed temporarily.
Next, council reviewed a request from the Case Fund and Lions Club and voted to purchase two eight-foot benches for Davison Green at a cost of $5,333, pending that the Lions purchase plaques to go with them.
Close asked council to consider approving the purchase of a TSBOC project for the Troy Sale Barn to use in the auditorium portion of the building. He noted that they have been able to hold council meetings at the Sale Barn free of charge and he would like to give back to the Sale Barn by purchasing the projector along with a projected mount, HDMI over cat 6 and a cat 6 shielded box. He also noted that this would be beneficial for council to use at future meetings. Council approved.
The deadline for the Local Share Account Resolution is Tuesday, March 15. Close asked council to approve the sending of an application towards this $75,000 grant, noting that he did not see Bradford County as a whole on the list of applicable municipalities. He plans to double check if Bradford County municipalities are able to submit an application. He would like to apply for the grant for the waste water treatment plant’s grit equipment in hopes that they are awarded the grant and will be able to help cover those costs. The application comes with a $100 fee, but if Troy is not eligible for the grant, he will not submit it.
Council voted to hire Aaron Miller of Troy as a general laborer for the borough. Miller will be able to start working pending his drug test review.
Finally, Close mentioned the new installation of the water well pump to conclude his report.
For the police report this month, Chief Dooley noted 13 traffic citations, 18 traffic warnings, four parking ticket warnings, two criminal arrests and no non-traffic citations. There were 46 calls of service total, with eight requiring a follow-up and 38 requiring an officer response. State police continue to provide coverage when an officer is not available for emergency situations when an officer is not on duty.
There will be a Cub Scout fish fry dinner event this Saturday, March 5, from 5-7 p.m. at the Vet’s Club.
The next Troy Borough Council meeting will be Thursday, March 31, at 3:30 p.m. at the Troy Sale Barn.
