The six part program begins in Troy on Tuesday, February 24. It will be held at Troy Community Hospital in the conference room. Class time is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Two-hour classes will meet once a week for five weeks with a follow-up class two months later. Class dates are February 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24, and May 26.
Details about the program and basic diabetes facts are given during the first class. A1c blood testing and blood pressure readings are taken. The next four classes focus on topics relating to diet. Each class includes 10 minutes of low impact exercise, food demonstrations and tasting. A1c blood testing and blood pressure readings are repeated during the follow-up class. Participants receive an exercise DVD, recipes and more.

Registration is free for persons who receive Medicare or Medicaid benefits. For others, the fee is $40 per person, plus $15 for a second family member. The fee may be waived based on need.
Dining with Diabetes is supported by the Joslin Diabetes Center. Based in Boston, Joslin is a world leader in diabetes care. A grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services covers the fee for recipients of these programs.
