Bradford County — Canton, Troy and surrounding residents exercised their right to vote this week for the 2020 election.
Most talk of the election stems around the presidential candidates, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Polls were open all around Bradford County from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and after were sent to the courthouse for tallying.
Many absentee ballots were also returned by mail this year by people wishing to avoid the COVID virus. They will be counted in the upcoming days.
All votes thus far are still preliminary, as Pennsylvania just recently passed a bill to extend absentee ballots by three days. Final results should be posted later this week.
So far, Bradford County has seen 25,232 total ballots from its 61 precincts reporting. The percentage of Bradford County votes thus far is 64.93%.
As of press time for the newspaper, leading the presidential candidacy is President Donald Trump and Vice President Michael Pence, with 19,411 votes (77.32%). Joe Biden and Kamala Harris trail with 5,210 votes (20.75%). Jo Jorgensen and Jeremy Spike Cohen of the Libertarian party fall behind with 57 votes, (.23%).
Heather Heidelbaugh (R) leads for Attorney General, with 75.11% of the votes, Josh Shaprio (D) in second with 21.75%, Daniel Wassmer (Lib) with 2.23%, Richard Weiss (G) .87% and ten write-ins that make up .04%.
For Auditor General, Timothy Defoor (R) leads with 76.17%. Nina Ahmad (D) is second with 18.56%, followed by Jennifer Moore (L) with 4.23%, Olivia Faison (G) with 1.01% and nine write-ins for .04%.
So far, Bradford County favors Stacy Garrity (R) for State Treasurer with 79.75% of votes, followed by Joe Torsella (D) with 17.26%, Joe Soloski (L) with 2.23%, Timothy Runkle (G) with .73% and 10 write-ins for .04%.
Fred Keller (R) leads Lee Griffin (D) for Representative in Congress 12th Congressional District. Keller comes in at 80.08% of votes, with Griffin at 19.39% and 131 write-ins for .53%.
According to Bradford County polls, Senator Gene Yaw (R) may still hold his position of Senator in the General Assembly 23rd after receiving 80.56% votes. Jackie Baker (D) follows with 19.30% of votes and 34 write-ins for .14%.
Clint Owlett (R) may also still hold his position of Representative in the General Assembly 68th according to Bradford County polls. Rep. Owlett comes in with 92.44% votes, with Noyes Lawton following with 7.33% and write-in votes at .23%.
Tina Pickett (R) is leading in Bradford County polls for Representative in the General Assembly 110th. with 87.47%, with Larry Frey (D) at 11.78% and write-ins at .75%.
None of the votes are final until mail-in ballots are counted.
