The theme for this year's VBS is: "Prayer Round-up!" using Matthew 7:7-8 as the memory verse for the week.
The classes will deal with situations in which prayer has played an important role. They will involve several people from both the Old and New Testaments.
Julie Parker and Christine Short will teach about Hannah and Samuel from 1 Samuel1-2:2.
Becky Guillaume and Jill Baily will do a lesson about Gideon and the fleece from Judges 6:36-40. A class about Jarius' daughter, from Luke 8:40-56 will be taught by Ann Campbell and Nancy Acresti. The fourth class will be a lesson about Naaman and his leprosy from 2 Kings 5:1-17, taught by JanNeita Taylor and Edie Burguess.
This event is open to all children ages 2 years of age through the sixth grade. The 2 & 3 year
olds will be taught by Cody and Carrie Young, who have prepared age appropriate lessons for that group. The others will rotate so they will have a different class and sight each night.
The last evening of the program will be a Prayer Emphasis, which will help the students to put into practice what they have learned throughout the week. This will be followed by the Backyard Carnival, directed by John and Elizabeth Ward.
Each night in addition to the classes there will be a craft time led by Melody Kitchen and her staff, as well as refreshment time under the direction of Carrie Wilcox and Jane Moore and their staff.
The missions for the week will be the ministry to Children of the Navajo tribe in Arizona,to which all of the offerings for the week will be given. Also, a collection of non-perishables will be given to the local Canton Food Bank.
All children of the area are invited to attend this exciting week of V.B.S. For more information you may call 570-673-5225.
