The season of lent lasts for 40 days not including Sundays, beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing until Easter. Lent is a time of preparation for Easter, where many Christians partake in periods of fasting, reflection, repentance, moderation, and spiritual discipline.
St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parishes' annual Ash Wednesday Mass will be at 6:00 pm in St. Michael Church, Canton.
First Penance will be held immediately following Mass.
For those unable to attend Mass to receive ashes, either stop in the office between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm on Ash Wednesday or call the parish office during those times at 570-673-5253 to arrange an appointment with Father Mike.

The church has two opportunities to prepare for the Lenten Season.
A time of Morning Prayer and reflection will be available to those who choose to come to the church at 7:00 a.m. with the imposition of ashes by Rev. Bonnie Browning.
The second option is through a traditional Ash Wednesday service at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
Everyone from everywhere is invited to attend.
