LeRoy — Roads were the main topic of interest at the LeRoy Township Supervisors meeting on Monday, March 1.
Supervisors spoke of the recent “big storms” that have roared through the area and dumped feet of snow on roads throughout the township.
Because of this, roads were hard to access. The two employees who handle the roads are always “on call,” however, supervisors discussed getting a township cell phone (just basic call and text) for Butch to use in case they need to get ahold of him during bad weather. Secretary Ted Tomlinson motioned to buy a flip phone for the township, and the motion was approved by supervisors.
Other news
Tomlinson stated that he sent a letter to Frontier Communications asking them to settle for a $2,000 check from supervisors for the claim for damages on Beers Road. He says so far, he has not gotten a response.
Supervisors plan to advertise for bids on aggregate needs for 2021. They plan to start the process in April.
Equipment needs or upgrades were also discussed with Roadmaster Butch. They discussed upgrading the grader, if they buy a good plow to go with it. Tomlinson plans to get pricing for these and bring it back for supervisors to review. The Kubota also needs new tires.
For the road report, supervisors discussed potholes on Crowfoot Road right before the bridge, which needs attention, according to supervisor Jason Krise.
Krise also spoke about the COG meeting, or Council of Governments, which recently took place in Troy. He said their guest speaker was Commissioner Daryl Miller, who spoke about fiber optics and broadband and how they are wiring the 911 center in Towanda.
The next LeRoy Township Supervisors meeting is Monday, April 5, at 7 p.m.
