To the editor:
Hello. I am Roy Cross and this is the story of my four-leaf clover rocks project and my walk with God.
I am donating these four-leaf clover rocks because I believe God’s blessings are on them for His Glory. God used these rocks to change my hardened heart. This story starts way before this but this sole blessing from God changed me.
It starts at a Dollar General store. That day was an odd day; I will never forget it. I had painted some rocks pink and white and put small Scripture on them, sayings such as “In God We Trust” and “God is love.” Small stuff, but we never know God’s plan until it is right in front of us.
I had placed some rocks on a ledge at the Dollar General and went in to make a purchase. On my way out I saw a mother getting her little daughter out of a van. The little girl was wearing a bracelet that clearly marked her as a cancer patient, and what happened next still to this day makes me tear up.
The Mom was carting the little girl into the store and when they passed the rocks I had placed the little girl says, “Mommy, can I have one? That’s really pretty.” Her mother told her, “No, honey, we don’t know who put it there.” Everything inside me jumped as I walked by and I felt the Holy Spirit. So I said, “Ma’am, I make these rocks and put them out for children just like your daughter.” The little girl, so innocent, said, “Mommy, now that we know who puts them out, can I have one now?”
That moment is stuck in my head forever. The Mom looked at me and tears welled up. She said, “OK, honey.” The little girl climbed down from her Mom and went over to get one of the rocks. The mother’s jaw hit the ground and she said, “My baby hasn’t walked that far in months.” I said, “God’s joy is in her.” She said “Thank you.”
On the back of the rock was the phrase “In God We Trust.” The little girl asked, “Mommy, who is God?” I said “Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, honey,” and I walked away.
It was all this big guy could do to keep from crying. This is why I make these four-leaf clover rocks for God and for the kids.
The joy of the Lord renews my strength and I saw it that day in that little girl. I ask if the kids can’t find one because they are sick due to cancer, please give a rock to them; and if they want one, please give them a Bible, because I know that every kid who gets one of these Bibles and four-leaf clover rocks God’s Holy Spirit will heal them and touch their hearts and lives.
I know this because of John 14:15-31 in the Bible. I never knew the Holy Spirit until 2019 when He led me to John 14 and gave me the Spirit of Truth and healed my broken heart. I prayed and was blessed with the Holy Spirit and I will never deny God and I know his blessings are on those four-leaf clover rocks. I have a knack for finding four-leaf clovers and often find them when I am praying to God for someone. That’s the faith God has given me and it’s His blessing to give me the clover to use to make the rocks for kids.
When I prayed over these rocks that I have sent to you as a donation, Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior has blessed them and I ask God Emmanuel for his blessings to be on them for the kids. I know it because of His gift. He gave me the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. John q14 – may God bless you and keep you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is always with you. If you truly pray John 3:16 and ask God into your heart he will send the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. Seek Him and ask and He will give it to you.

To the editor:
John Shaffer, your description of the potential flag burners from 1976 who were stymied by Rick Monday as “progressives” is not accurate.
In the latter half of the 20th century, no political group of any consequence in the U.S. used that designation. Who knows what alliance with any political group those two morons had but it sure wasn’t Progressive as currently defined.
Just because the idiot in the White House spreads bull around doesn’t mean you should. The worst part of this is I subscribe to your paper and I know that you know better. You are well aware that the contemporary usage of progressive has nothing to do with this kind of crap.
