Mr. Swingle fondly remembers the bell being rung for many hours at the end of the Second World War.
The belfry is a replica of the original belfry, and was constructed by Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Shinn through a grant from the Canton Foundation.

Mr. Blackwell and Pete Shinn constructed this belfry to house the bell, which is attached to the Hoagland School at the South Meadow Village at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm. ![]() The Beech Flats School was built around 1921 and still stands on the Swingle farm, where it is used for storage. The school closed in 1955 and the building was purchased by the Swingle family at auction for $278. Mr. Swingle fondly remembers the bell being rung for many hours at the end of the Second World War.
