Fourteen beautiful black granite benches have already been installed with four more on the way. They are etched in gold; some show icons while all convey a message. Two of the new benches have yet to be sponsored they will be placed in prime locations. If you or your organization wishes to demonstrate support for our men and women who have served, will serve or are protecting our freedom today, a sponsored granite bench may be the way to go. The Downtown Towanda Merchants have great plans to honor our Veterans that day starting at 1:30 PM with a showing of “Saving Private Ryan” at the Keystone Theater; Main Street Towanda. It’s free for veterans, $5 for everyone else. After that, drop by the Courthouse for a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 5:00. The Presbyterian Church is offering a free meal to veterans between 4 and 6 pm; the parade starts at 7. Main Street Towanda is the place to be on Friday for any and all veterans and their families. This event is forever evolving and I’m sure I missed posting some parts of it; apologies extended. It's all free.
