Three months into the state budget impasse, with no money available from the state - the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is taking every step possible to keep providing services for our seniors; including home delivered meals, help with personal care and personal emergency response systems.
The agency has not received any state funds since July 1, 2015, and is now utilizing a line of credit, which the agency is required to pay back with interest. Internal measures have been taken to reduce every cost possible and delay payments. At this point the agency has deferred $380,000.00 in payments to landlords and service providers for July and August. Even though the service providers have not received any payments since July 1st, they continue to provide personal care, home support, home delivered meals, and other services so those currently receiving services do not have to go without. The agency is very appreciative to our landlords and service providers who are working with us during this critical financial crisis. Troy Borough Police Chief Anthony Morelli submitted this report to Troy Borough Council at its September meeting:
