The Heritage Garden Club of Troy, will be hosting a live bird presentation on October 8th, at 7:00 pm, at the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church of Troy, 579 Canton Street, Troy, PA.
Ian McLaughlin, of Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum, will be giving a presentation with live local raptors, including: a Great Horned Owl, a Barred Owl, and a Red-tailed Hawk. In addition to discussing these birds, he will also discuss plantings to attract local birds, and resident and migratory birds in fall. Mr. McLaughlin says, “Fall is a time of transition for nature, and especially birds.”
Ian McLaughlin, a Naturalist for Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum, grew up in Chemung County and attended Horse-heads Central Schools. He graduated in 1998 and then studied at the University of Vermont, receiving a B.A. in environmental studies in 2003. He started working at Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum in January 2006 as an intern, and continues there now as a Naturalist.
Tanglewood Nature Center & Museum was established in 1978. At that time their facility was located on West Hill Road above ‘five corners’ in Elmira, NY. It now occupies a new location at 443 Coleman Ave. This new facility, which opened in 2003, includes nine miles of hiking trails, a scenic overlook, and a new post and beam Lodge with a beautiful view of the property.
