TROY — Troy Area School District is now on remote learning, due to rising COVID-19 cases in the area.
Superintendent Dr. Eric Stair announced the temporary closure to parents and students on Nov. 6. The remote learning started Monday, Nov. 9, and will continue through Tuesday, Nov. 24.
“During this temporary school closure, parents will play a vital role in ensuring that children are engaged in remote learning to the maximum extent possible. We know this will be challenging, however, our dedicated teachers will continue serving our students remotely. We appreciate your flexibility as we work through the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and its impact on our community.”
He says the district plans to resume classes on Tuesday, Dec. 1, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this difficult Pandemic. I can assure you this was not an easy decision, but a decision that needed to be made during this time.”
The district is planning to offer meals to all families in the district beginning Tuesday.
They can sign up for free meals at https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx with additional information offered at https://www.troyareasd.org/FoodServices.aspx.
“Parents must sign up for these free meals below. Once you sign up you will be eligible for free meals through November 24th. You do NOT need to sign up each week for this service during this current shut down.
All children ages 0 to 18 years who reside in the Troy Area School District qualify for the free meals and we encourage all families to participate in this opportunity. We will provide your family with three days of breakfasts and lunches,” the post says.
Pick up for meals will be 3:30-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the school buildings. It’s a drive-through service. The district asks that parents remain in their vehicles, wear a mask when picking up the meals and exit the location after they receive their meals.
