They would like to take time to recognize and honor some of these hero like individuals who unselfishly give of themselves to better life for others and their communities.
The Summer Speaker Series would like to have you join them in celebration for three dedicated Community Leaders from here in the Troy area on Thursday July 9th 2015 at 7 pm in the Troy High School Auditorium.
This year they will be reaching out to the service related groups within our community to honor a member of their respected organizations including the Rotary Club, Troy and Sylvania Lions Clubs.
The main goal of the Summer Speaker Series is to create community involvement by bringing people together with free public events that feature a guest speaker to raise funds for other organizations in need within the local area.
Along with the recognition of the honored guests this event will feature Sam Antes a current Penn State student and founder of the Summer Speaker Series as the keynote speaker about the importance of community involvement.
July Summer Speaker Series
The Troy Summer Speaker Series will kick off it’s 2015 season with WNEP’s Mike Stevens on Thursday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Auditorium, Troy High School.
WNEP TV's Mike Stevens has been traveling the Pennsylvania Road for 30 years. In all that time, Mike has never lost sight of the original goal of the Pennsylvania Road assignment: to travel the back roads and country lanes of
northeastern and central Pennsylvania in search of interesting people doing interesting things.
The Pennsylvania Road has taken WNEP viewers to meet folks who whittle, carve, saw, fiddle, play, collect, draw, build and otherwise do things that Mike thinks TV 16's viewers ought to know about.
In addition to his travels, Mike is also host of the Home and Backyard Show Saturday morning at 9:00 and contributes to the Pennsylvania Outdoor Life program seen Sunday nights. He is a frequent guest speaker at church, civic and charitable functions in the WNEP coverage area. He also writes essay pieces that appear in area magazines as well and enjoys taking the photographs that accompany some of his stories. He has published four books under the "Life in the Slow Lane" title.
The Summer Speaker Series project is in its third year of presenting outstanding speakers to this area. There is not an admission fee but a donation is appreciated. Funds from the Speaker Series is donated to various non-profit organizations in the area
