Climbing down he experienced five different climate changes and many sights, sounds and smells not available from above. When he eventually reached the bottom, he waded in the ice cold water against the one hundred degree surrounding temperature. After this amazing experience, he had what he called. “The best steak he had ever eaten” at a restaurant there. He didn’t just visit The Grand Canyon, he experienced it! It was an adventure.
After hearing his story, it occurred to me that many people see God as a destination rather than a journey. They may accept Him as their Savior, (means of going to Heaven) but view Him from a distance and see Heaven as the destination. Jesus came not only to save us from Hell, but to be our Lord, to see and live life as God designed. He wants us to experience life through Him; to make our life a journey and for it to be one of adventure.
Acknowledging God or even going to church and not EXPERIENCING God there will not begin this amazing journey. Just as standing in your garage does not make you a car. Like the song says, we need to let “Jesus take the wheel.” When you let THAT happen, the adventure begins. Something to think about...
You will thank me when these are over: What do you call a fake noodle? An Impasta. What’s the difference between a guitar and a fish? You can’t tuna fish. Did you hear about the hungry clock? It went back four seconds. What gets wetter the more it dries? A towel. Did you hear about the shampoo shortage in Jamaica? It’s dread-full. How do you make a tissue dance? Put a little boogey in it! Why did Tony go out with a prune? Because he couldn’t find a date! How many books can you put in an empty backpack? One. After that its not empty! Finally, (and you’re welcome) Where do bees go to the bathroom? At the BP station!
