These days $7 doesn’t buy a lot in the way of entertainment lasting all day long unless that entertainment is at the Tioga County Fair. From August 10th through August 15th, for a mere $7 admission fee, one can experience a bounty of exhibits, displays and shows, from home-grown produce and hand-made crafts to livestock and music, fireworks, a hypnotist act, even women throwing axes and wielding chainsaws for the thrill of competition, all as part of the free entertainment at the Tioga County Fair. For $35, the entertainment can span all 6 days of the Fair. That’s like getting admitted to the Fair an entire day for free. And as always, parking is Free every day!
Children under 36 inches in height have free admission to the grounds and rides every day when accompanied by an adult.
Special Admission Rates:
Free Admission for children 11yrs and younger until 5pm on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Free admission does NOT include amusement rides. Unlimited amusement rides can be purchased for $3.00 for children 36 inches and over on Wednesday.
Free Admission for Senior Citizens 62 years and over until 5pm on TUESDAY, AUG. 11. Rides are not included.
Wristband and weekly pass holders must show their wristband or weekly pass and pay $3 (per day) at the carnival ticket booth for amusement rides.
The “free-for-all” entertainment actually starts on Sunday, Aug. 9, with free admittance to the fairgrounds for the crowning of the 2015 Tioga County Fair Queen in the air conditioned Main Building at 6 p.m.
SunShine Shows Amusement Rides open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and on Wednesday and Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and reopening from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. All rides are free with each $7 admission fee to the fairgrounds.
Antique Tractors are on display daily, featuring Allis Chalmers tractors from 1965 and older. Other makes and models will also be on display.
Farm, Mine & Lumber Museum is open daily. See life as it was for Tioga County residents over 100+ years ago, featuring items used in farming, coal mining, tanning, and lumbering industries.
Livestock Shows – Horses, dairy and beef cows, pigs, sheep, goats, and rabbits will be on display, with a different show offered each day. See schedule in fair book or web site (tiogacountyfair.com) for times and dates. Note: Due to the HPAI (avian influenza) spreading across the U.S, the PA Secretary of Agriculture, Russell Redding, has determined that poultry shows and exhibitions at PA fairs will be suspended until further notice. For this reason, A birdless showmanship contest will be held this year for Dept. 10, 4-H and FFA participant
Big Tiny Young Show features country, gospel, and a variety of popular favorite songs from the 50’s through today, including music by Elvis, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson, The Eagles, Bobby Vinton, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, and Garth Brooks, with 2 to 3 shows DAILY on the Midway Stage.
Garden Tractor Pull begins at 5 p.m.. on Monday, August 10th at 5 p.m., followed by the Antique Tractor Pull feturing pre-1960 tractors at 6 p.m., on the track.
Baked Goods Auction is sure to please everyone’s sweet tooth with the chance to bid on prize-winning entries and other goodies Monday, Aug. 10, 7 p.m. in Grange Building area.
Talent Contest – Singing, dancing, music and more. Experience the raw energy of amateur performers giving it their all to win. Monday, Aug. 10, 7 p.m. in the Main Building.
Fireworks light up the sky at dusk on Monday, August 10th.
Barney Wilkins & the Penn Dixie Band performs not only on stage but may also be found parading around the grounds. March along as they play such styles as Swing, Jazz, Patriotic, Gospel, Polka, Country, Oldie Rock, Irish, Italian, Klezmer, German, Classical - Tuesday, Aug. 11, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.
Penny Eckman Sings Patsy Cline – Back by popular demand, this show pays tribute to the legendary Patsy Cline Tuesday, Aug. 11, 6:30.p.m and 8:00 p.m., Main Building.
Michael Blaine, stage hypnotist performs on Tuesday, August 11, and Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on the Midway Stage.
Family Day is Wednesday, with lots of free activities for kids beginning at 10 a.m. Competitions and prizes are scheduled as part of the fun.
Giant Banana Split - Yes, ice cream for free, with bananas and an assortment of toppings Wednesday, Aug. 12, 5:30 p.m. on the grounds.
Greenwood Valley Boys sing traditional bluegrass in a “front porch, kick-up-your-heels” style reminiscent of such masters as Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, and Mac Wiseman. Thursday, Aug. 13, 5:30 and 7 p.m., on the Midway Stage.
Axe Women: Loggers of Maine perform from Thursday, Aug. 13 through Saturday, Aug. 15 featuring female champions wielding axes and chainsaws for 3 thrilling shows daily.
McNett Country Band performs for the round and square dance on Friday, Aug. 14, 8:00 p.m., Main Building
Antique Show and Sale on Saturday, Aug. 15, gives patrons a chance to view and learn the value of attic treasures.
The Cowanesque Valley Boys performs Saturday., Aug. 15, at 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the Midway Stage.
